    Icon5 Get better FPS?

I'm really disapointed with how crappy ETW is optimized

    My Specs:

    amd 6400+
    8 gigs ram
    gtx 260
    vista x64

I get 15-30 ish FPS in battles and campaign map. For a system like that, thats pathedic

I want to add the smoke mod/blood mod, but I know it decreases FPS, what would be the best thing to disable to get a high fps boost?

I have all settings on ultra and res on 1024x768

from what I can tell searching the fourms this is a common problem on most PC configurations. I found untill patch is released I get ok fps on med setting. the game over all is very unstable.

etw generally runs like crap that's part of what the patch will fix. Turn off SSAO and AA to make the most difference.

Hope you weren't going that, AA really makes a game look good from far distances, ill try and see if it changes apearance that much

I wouldnt turn it off in games like fps since it looks horrible without aa but with a game like etw its not as noticable unless you zoom right in and look closely. it says you 5-10 fps so its the best to get rid of after SSAO

mmm what drivers are u using? what psu you got for that 260..? other games run ok?

are u using evga prec tool to oc your gpu? checked its not over-heating?

use driver sweeper in safe mode to uninstall old drivers?

turned off unecessary programs? disable superfectch?

cpu speed? (although unlikely u could be bottlenecking the 260..i stress unlikely).

i prev had a 260 and @1920x1200 it would push out more fps than yours.

    something aint right m8.

done a defrag in awhile? check for spyware? virus?

download and run furmark at your max resolution (native res). @1920x1200 with my 9450 with no aa/on my average fps was 56....

(i am on 185.26 atm) betas..

Acording to dxdiag, my nvida drives are 7.15.0011.7741

850 watt- dont remember exact model

Other games fine, cod4 250 fps steady

factory OCed, I didn't OC it- my temp monitor program says its about 40 C steady when I'm in ETW

I heard newer nvidia drivers causes problems for ETW?

yep, never heard of superfectch- disabled it even tho this says it doesnt increase performance that much, if at all

    6400+ is a 3.2

In ETW? Also some gpus are really weird, some can get kick ass FPS only at really high resolusions with AA, some get horrible FPS when the resolution is high

Defrag often, I also have a RAID 0 set up, so that should increase performance

I have a crappy old CRT, max resolution it can do is 1024x768

    Im running
    e8400 at 3.6ghz
    9800GTX
    4GB of Ram
    Vista 32-bit

and i get a solid 30-45 fps in battles with all settings on high with shadowns and that fancy shadow things that kills performance all at 1680x1050.

im using the nvidia 181.22 drivers they seem to b the most stable (0 crashes)

But im upgrading to a GTX 280 Amp Edition by friday and ill be omgwtfbbq the graphics on this game

RAID 0 won't give you an FPS boost, only faster loading times.

I know it's been suggested but have you actually tried disabling SSAO if it is enabled?

yeah 250fps with a 260 and that res with cod4 sounds about right.

so i reckon its driver issue.

download this. or u can use driver cleaner..(i have vista64 so works for me).

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/Driver-C...nload-745.html

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/Driver-C...nload-745.html

device manager/uninstall by right clicking on 260/reboot into safe mode (f8 for me). clean nvidia drivers. also u can delete on your c drive the nvidia folder...

    reboot and install these drivers.

    http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=290301

or if not supported try the 185.06 or 181.22. keep doing this method when installing/uninstalling drivers.

hopefully you'll get it fixed. at this res and a 260 you should be looking @50fps at least.

i mean my card is 2x260's (295..more or less) and i'm @1920x1200 with all ultra pushing out 100fps plus. so u shoould be getting around 50 performance of what i can manage at least...

try the furmark program. ocing your cpu and gpu will help. (but depends on res you are at...but i always do it..amd chips are hotter than intel btw). but 3.4 ghz i think enough. quad-cores are meant to run the game better but its marginal i think.

i found turning fan speed up to 60 percent with a 260 (create a profile). and a good oc was 700/1509/1100 (link shader to core). my temps never got over 65c.

other things to consider is updating chipset drivers. sound drivers and a bios update.

if u have covered all this then its the game thats @ fault and not your setup.

btw my setup is a q9450 @ 3.6ghz, 4gb ram, ga x48 ds4 mobo, evga 295. and getting this game to work was a frigging nightmare.

(oh and if u think lucky me well my gpu temps are going through the roof).

Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'll wait for a nvidia driver/ETW patch that gives better performance, I dont wan't to have to downgrade a GPU driver just to get 1 game to work

Disabling SSAO got me 5 -10 ish battle fps boost

I'll try uping my GPU fan speed- I noticed that the longer I play, the worst my FPS becomes, mabye the card is over heating

lower the level of AA if you hanv't already. a few newer games have problems with 8x AA, new hardware and stuttering. Far Cry 2 comes to mind.. so does Fallout 3. on 8x the games stutter bad, like the equiv. of low teens fps... yet fraps will show 40 fps. i have a 4870x2 and this is a known issue.

well i tried 5 drivers! it doesnt take 5 mins..sometimes u have to "downgrade"

tbh just cos u have the latest doesnt always mean its the best. and going from the lates to 185.26 i see no diff in perf with any other games. well perhaps 1-2 fps...
