    Default General command stats

I was hesitant about making a new topic, but I've searched and couldn't find the information I was after. My general has 9 stars and a whole ton of abilities. some add +3 to command, or +1 to command when fighting Ottomans, for example. What does this mean for my battles, how can I take advantage of it.

Your general or admiral command rating gives small bonuses to your units in the battle for each star. It also improves their morale, which gives them a bonus adjustment to shock resistance and morale checks.

I'm not sure what the specifics are in ETW yet, but I suspect it's a small bonus to accuracy, defense, morale and a tangible benefit to reforming and cohesion of the rank and file.

It varies, some of the benefits you'll see on the campaign map. Like increased movement range for infantry, arty, etc..

Others are straight morale boosts on the field. meaning if your general is within a certain distance of other units, as coman has stated, they get shock resistance (large casualties effect them less for instance) and recover from morale drops easier.

Others are direct unit benefits and often are for specific unit types. I have an art heavy general who increases the accuracy and reload time of any artillery unit in his stack. Another who gives a charge bonus to any Calvary in his stack.

There are also benefits which are area dependent...I have a 9 star general in my India campaign who only gets those 9 stars when he's fighting a battle in India, when I moved him back to Europe for my campaign against the Ottomans it went back down to 7 stars.

So it does benefit you to use your general as much as possible, you'll also find that you'll get traits quicker if you use them more in battle. Not always actually in the fight, but moving them around a lot to units who are in the fray.
