Meh, why bother with old beta drivers and get the 185.20 if any beta driver at all.
Or stick with the 182.06 one.

Well these 'old' drivers have been released today, while the 185.20 have a higher number but are older Probably a reason for the higher number is that Nvidia never released them (officialy).

Anyway I'm downloading now to try them out....

Ha, well I managed to reach one more turn in my sweden campaign before my machine locked up. However I can't blame ETW & these drivers as am having general stability problems with my pc requiring hard-resets daily, booo.

The computer reboots automaticly random? Might be your powersupply or the CPU being overheated.

Had the problem myself this autumn, PSU blew up, had to send it into 'datorbutiken.com' but they went into..... whatever so i never got a new one, so bought a new one, and comp has been fine since then lol.

Nah the pc just freezes, no input from mouse/keyboard/etc so have to press the reset button. Really cannot track it down, tried Motherboard BIOS flash, changing RAM timings/voltages, CPU speed/voltages, most software drivers. Also getting freeze ups on 2nd hard disk with Win7 on too, which would lead me to expect a hardware fault...although after first 2-3 freezes its rock solid for until I turn it off...ah well back to the drawing board!

Sounds like your chipset is overheating. If so you should improve your airflow, or get a new motherboard

Thanks for the tip Stoferr, am thinking my motherboard could be the caulprit however airflow is good with 6 fans, temps are low. Really difficult to isolate problem.

Slightly off topic, but I had exactly the same problem - it turned out that while i had good airflow the GTX280 default fan setting was 41% so the card itself was over heating. Once I ramped up the onbvoard fan on the GPU the problems went away...

Only to be replaced by a driver compatability problem with ETW

I went from 182.08 back to 182.06 yesterday and it seemed to work slightly better ( only a couple of crashes ) however today it crashes before loading the campaign map so I need to try something else

    tried these with a 295. they are a no-no.

best i found is 185.26 with nhancer. playing darth mod with full smoke mod and am generally not dipping under 50fps with all ultra @1920x1200. (mostly over 100fps).

its a lot more playable than 1 week ago. actually getting to like it!

What so the new drivers still suck for performance? That sucks. What works best with a 8800gt for people here?

I've been using the 185.20 beta drivers as these are the only ones I've found so far that allows me to use my two GTX280s in SLI mode.

    I may try the beta.....
