    Default Gatling guns

I'm not sure they are called gatling guns in-game. but you know, the bloody machine guns things. Are they underpowered?

I decided to play a custom battle. I had about 4 of those machine guns, and the rest was line infantry, as many elites as possible. The enemy I gave nothing but melee infantry. I figured massive amounts of line infantry as well as 4 machine guns would create a nice massacre, but no. The melee infantry actually won

I'm pretty sure line infantry+gatlings would mow down any approaching melee infantry. Especially when you got like 1000 men with rifles.

They are good against building. Seriously.

But anything else... their wild accuracy makes them worse than round shots against infantry.

I was all excited to get quicklime...sucked. As did; carcass shot, puckle b.s., platoon fire, all the starting cannons(immobile wtf?), grape shot in sea battles and boarding is a total letdown, etc.

rushed product is the reason i guess

Grapeshot works OK in sea battles: After you dismast them with chain, if they haven't routed or surrendered yet, rake them a few times with grape and they should. Boarding works fine, just wait until they start to rout, then send a board to board them and they will surrender and the ship is yours.

Boarding is great, yep, whats not great about hundreds of sailors commiting mass suicide?

they won't. a routing ship surrenders as the hulls make contact

Someone needs to spend more time trying to board ships that are not already running.

    Boarding works anything but 'fine'.

I'll have to say that I disagree with almost everything you say, carcass shots can get a lot of kills with a good shot, usually killing a couple dozen people. Puckle guns work fine for me, they just need a direct line of fire is all. Quicklime is quite effective if you aim in front of your enemy, as it leaves a small cloud of quicklime which kills your enemy if they walk through it, if you just aim at the enemy like it sounds like you did then of course it won't do anything, and although I've heard complaints about platoon firing, mostly caused by one unit reloading which messes up the whole firing drill, I rarely experience such a problem when I leave fire at will on and don't choose a target with my unit. Grapeshot is very effective if the enemy ship has most of their crew on the top deck or there's a few holes in their ship, although the boarding does seem to have some notable bugs and the immobile early cannons also is a bit of a problem, but it sounds like most of your problems are caused by the lack of knowledge on how to use these weapons.

I am not entirely clear what the benefit of Puckle Guns really is. They are simply turreted muskets, but at the cost of a unit slot in your army and far less mobility, you only get about 3 or 4 of them, while a unit of line infantry would bring you 120 such muskets. Can the Puckle Gun really match a full line unit?

I agree about quicklime, carcass shot and puckle being dissapointing. And the starting cannons are useless for sieges as they dont have enough range to reach a fort or city.

Quicklime works wonders... try to aim your howitzers in front of the approaching enemy. And bear in mind it's mostly used for a morale loss, not actual total kills. QL approaching enemy flanks you think you'll have a hard time breaking, units like grenadiers, elites, etc...

Same with carcass shot, you want to aim in front so that the flames fan across the approaching units.

Puckle guns are not Gatling guns, or anything like that, really. Of course you lost. You should have.

Pickle guns guarding the arty help slow down sneak attacks. For some reason though placing them with defences during the beginning of a defence game is bugged. The horses appeared miles away from the guns and the guns were floating. When it came to game time they got slaughtered.
