Icon5 How to speed up the 'end turn' bit?

    Hi,

How can I speed up the 'end turn' bit. It takes about a minute now.
I've turned 'show cpu moves' off.

Are there any other things I can tweak to speed it up?

    I have 2Gb of memory and an C2D E6300 (1,86Ghz, I think).

I guess the cpu is the bottleneck here, or would another 1Gb of memory help me out?

The hard drive is defragged, although I doubt that will have any impact on the 'end turn'-bit, which I guess is mainly cpu-powered.

Is there anything else I can do?
Apart from waiting for the multicore patch?

You should not be getting lag in the end turn unless you are well into the game. Its nothing to do with your CPU mate, Its memory leak that is causing the problem (major Bug) TBH and wont be fixed untill a patch is out. I am in the year 1820 with sweden and this is doing my head in also.....Only started when I was so far into the game.

Somewhere in the menus there is an option to turn off the game showing you PC moves. For example, when it is on, you will see every single move the PC makes in your line of sight. If you turn it off, it won't show them anymore, which makes ending turns much faster.

It's called 'show cpu moves' and it's already turned off.
So I'm just waiting for the flag's to do their round, still it takes a while.
Already from turn one. I haven't gotten further than 1730 or so because it really takes time and I'm tired of waiting.

(Unfortunately my bios doesn't allw overclocking )

Well as I've been noticing a problem as well similar to the OP it's nice to know the issue needs to be fixed with a patch and it's not my box.

Intel E6300 goes up to 3Ghz with great cpu cooler, if you go for medium cooler it goes up to 2.6Ghz easily. Keeping any Core2Duo at default speed is clear waste of resources. And you can see huge difference in any came by just overclocking your cpu, and it also decreases your "end turn" time, tho i admit it seems bit too long for now, so maybe CA will fix it.
