Default Installation Issues (not solved by any workaround)

    Hey

I got the game on dvd the other day, and I sadly have not been able to install it as of yet.

Everytime I try to install, I get to 7076/14899Mb then the install "freezes". The ammount installed doesnt change. the disk 1 bar (which haslaready filled twice so far) goes to zero, and stays there.

I get no error messages, no messages about corrupt files on the disk, no prompt for disk 2 (tried inserting it, and it does nothing).

I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling steam. Emptying the local files etc

Every time I try to install, it reinstalls the C++ redistributable, perhaps this is is something to do with it.

Im worried that its a messed up disk, which means I need to try taking it back for an exchange, or just downloading ETW from steam.

Anyways, thanks in advance for any help

Vista or XP? What are your computer specs? Sounds like you ran out of memory.

    Im on XP home(SP3)

    Specs
    Intel E6700 Dual core
    3.5gig ram
    Radeon 3850 512mb

All my other games with work and install fine, its just this one that isnt

As for running out of memory, Ive got 25gig free on the HD, so doubt that is the issue.

Im all out of ideas on how to get it working.
