Game killing bug

OK, I just got back from overseas, so I don't really know what is going on here. The first thing I did was buy ETW and install it. unfortunately now that I play it a bug happens.

the audio stutters for about one second, the game locks up, then the screen goes blank for about 3-5 seconds. and then the load screen comes up, briefly before going back to a functional game (right where I was). the whole thing stops the game for about 15-20 seconds on average. This would not be so bad except that it happens about every 45 seconds (no exudation) and happens in every single part of the game (Battle, Campaign, even main menu). the game is unplayable.

does anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it? is a Patch necessary? How would I get one if it is (i'm not familiar with steam)?

update: after quiting I got the message many times over that " Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has sucsessfully recovered."

Hrm. Yes, having done a little more research I think you are right. Still though, this is a problem that I have had only with this game. Damn.

oh, well... I'll try some of the 8 million fixes that no one agrees even work...
