I suppose I could, but the added info will help also in where you place the regiments and who to fight if you like to keep them as historical as possible.

Black Watch was a nick-name in this period (like Scots Greys) it only became official much later on.

It is good suggestion for CA. Brittish regiments should have correct historical names, all other factions get only generic numbers (1st infantry, 2nd infantry, 3rd)... GB should have at least three more special units too.

The 1st was the Royal Scots Regiment, not just the Royal Regiment.

Also, it may be worth noting that the 52nd and 71st were Light Infantry regiments (and the 71st was the Glasgow Highland, not just Highland).

Thanks a lot for this list. I named all of my GB units yesterday but now I will be able to give them the correct names. No names where on this list for Colonial American infantry though. How where those named?

And, what where the names of the Hessian regiments, was it 1st through 5th Hessian Legion?

Ah, Those are later changes up to 1812 it was the 1st (Royal) Regiment of Foot

The light infantry regiments also didn't emerge until the early part of the 19th Century, However the 71st did change its name a few times usually adding a supplemental title - for example 71st (Highland) Regiment of Foot (Fraser's Highlanders) during the War of Independence.

About the colonial units in America before the revolution. I suppose there where some fighting against the Indians and French. What where their names and how many where there?

Also, here's a good list of the British army of the Seven Year's war. It provides a snap-shot of the army in the mid-century, so avoids the pitfalls that Vade101 has pointed out. Of course the list would be different earlier and later on, but the more senior regiments remained fairly constant, those that you can click on usually list the year the regiment was formed. The later regiments on the list will often have been raised for the war, and disbanded at the end.
