Icon9 No more epic and inspiring movies?

A few months ago I started to collect and re-watch epic war movies, so far I have spent great time watching Alexander, Messenger, Gladiator, 300, Braveheart, LOTR, Kingdom of Heaven, 1612, and With Fire and Sword.

But now it seems there is no more to watch, and I feel bad when I want to have some movies to spend my holiday ..... Where are other epic and inspiring movies? Is Hollywood dead or what?

I'm sure there are other countries making such movies..... But where are they?? BTW I saw a scene of parthians in some deleted wikipedia article, but somehow nobody seems to recognize it.....

There hasn't been an epic film since 1967.

Lord of the rings lol? But yea most movies are just lame as hell now. I mean whatever happened to the good old full metal jacket days? Its like film makers are scared to make full blown war movies anymore. And if it is a war movie its some stupid sensationalist piece of crap.

I'm tired of hearing about war, and I don't need to see more of it onscreen. Many other people think so too, clearly, because it's a dying genre. Movies don't need huge battles, blood, patriotism, and "epic-ness" to be inspiring. Just look around at other genres.

War movies POPULATE the movie industry my friend. What we need is a bigger VAREITY of war movies.

Let me see a feature length Bio-pic on Caesar, with a big actor playing him. Lets see one on William the Conqueror, Washington, Hitler even!

We need more bio movies they are the true epic movies. I love watching them.
Alistair Yronwood - Lord of Yronwood, Warden of the Stone Way, Blood Royal

"Darkness? I was born in it...molded by it. I didn't see the light until I was already a man. By then it was nothing to me but blinding! The shadows betray you because they belong to me!
"But there must always be a Darth Traya, one that holds the knowledge of betrayal. Who has been betrayed in their heart, and will betray in turn."

"You clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, I AM the danger! A guy opens his door and gets shot and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks! "

It would be cool if someone made a movie about Constantine XI and the fall of Constantinople. To the OP, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epic_film#War_epics

Actually, if you look at most war movies since the 1950's, they've been about the horrors, the problems, with war and nationalism, rather than supporting it. Which, IMO, make them a very inspiring fusion of the drama and action genres.

I would have thought it was pretty simple really. They ran out of original ideas...

Depends on what inspires you. Apparently you're inspired by historical war movies. Other people are moved by other things.

Oh that's very true and sad. Most of people around my age and my parents' don't like it either. Instead of reading about great warriors and conquerors they'd rather waste time on singers and petty politicians!
