    Default The newest spam tactic....

So we have all seen the mortar spam which evolved into jaeger/skirmisher spam.

Now we have the all Cavalry spam....

This isn't the most frustrating tactic but it is still a cheap attempt at winning.

It either works or gets smashed. Ive tried really hard to have only one rule in games i host and that was No Mortars. Im sure i've played against most of you and with a few of you. I don't limit any units what so ever. You want a full arty army fine, you can even pull the jaeger spam thats fine, but when you come with nothing but cav your blatently saying i have no idea how to win and dont really want to try to learn the game the tactics none of that im just here to be a tard.

I hope this cheap trick doesnt catch on like the jaegers if it does oh well ill just adjust and beat yet another in the long series of sad tactics that are popping up these days.

To everyone that comes with a decent army and puts up a fair fight i say keep it up, names do get around between players and here on the forums.

dude cavalry spam doesnt work.. if your opponent is smart they just go into square formation.. or if they are a mortar idiot they just blow 3/4 of you away..

cavarly need more punch not less. They need perhaps not more damage but a hell of a lot more moral damage when you flank, especially if you surround them... read my post

Lay spikes with the light infantry, and retreat back into them when you see the cavalry charging

Then use a mixture of squares and lines when you see the cavalry coming, if they have got round your spikes

Squares will be fine as they won't have much infantry

Cavalry spam is the worst tactic ever. Why do you complain about it?

"Why do you complain about it?"

to be a little more in depth just tired of only getting a handful of decent games lately. Seems like everyone is hung up on stats and stars. I just want a fight that sucks me in and makes me work for it and not be confident of a victory have me hanging until the final moments when the battle is decided these games are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

    Thats why i complain.

I've only encountered mortar spam once and the rest have been brilliant. Sure every takes an averge of 4 or 5 riflemen/jaegers but that's fine by me.

There's no such thing as destiny. There are only different choices. Some choices are easy, some aren't. Those are the really important ones, the ones that define us as people.

I don't think he is complaining about the strength of cavspam, but rather that people are so lazy now. I have stopped playing ranked matches as they are kind of useless, plus if somebody is cheating I would rather just quit the game then give them any kind of satisfaction. So I normally get into games and try to teach people how to play, show them a few tactics and such. Without a chat lobby it's impossible to find the good players, so I just go on and try to salvage a bit of fun.

I actually had a 2v2 battle like that, one of the guy spammed his entire army with cavalry, his ally army was composed of infantry, and artillery with no cavalry
My ally and I managed to beat them only by concentrating my 4 cavalry, and his 3 on them while two infantry shoot the enemy from behind, while the rest of my infantry and his fought the other dude. It was a bloody battle, massive cavalry, managed to beat them though

btw, does anyone know when a unit are in square formation, do they get a bonus fighting cavalry or something? My infantry always get defeated fighting cavalry in square formation.

    I faced Cav Spam once.

Marched up, 1 volley, then squares. Guy was wiped in 5 minutes, then quit leaving costing his ally the game and the points with it.

As far as I'm aware, infantry in squares get a vast bonus against cav - as long as they settle properly into their square. I've personally attempted charging upgraded Life Guards into formed squares at loss of only a couple of casualties to the infantry, while the square itself acts like spikes to my cavalry.

Personally, it's the Jaegar spam that has annoyed me the most. Came up against it for the first time today in early medium 1v1. So many, so cheap, my line inf butchered each unit they caught up with in melee, but were getting shot to pieces all the time while doing so - and i simply lacked the cavalry to compensate.

I struggle to see an effective way to counter such a strategy without resorting to similar cav/rifle spamming myself, and i'd personally rather not.

*sigh* I normally host battles with 3 art 5 cav max restrictions. Soon games will need to be hosted with restrictions on ALL forms of units it seems.

Yep cavalry spam is not only cheap its the weakest tactic in this game. Every good player will easiliy beat a cav army.

By the way, Jäger spam isnt good too...A line + light infantery with some few cav is in my opinion the best tactic, maybe some art if you want to play defensivly.

Who cares about a spamtactic which is easily beaten .
A legend is only a legend when alot of people talks about him. So far no one meets this requirement except Zyphlan

Zyphlan is a legend, you don't need to be popular to be legendary .

They say real legends never die, and if screen shots can be believed, it would appear he has arisen to revisit unspeakable horrors on all who would oppose him!

Cavalry spam is an awfull tactic. Your opponent won't use it unless he wants to lose or he doesn't know any better. I experimented with it once online against an opponent and got demolished. I was poland and basically filled my army up with all general's body guard and a few units of winged hussars. My opponent had a pretty balanced army with a few cannons, lots of line inf and a good bit of cav. I full on charged his lines, his line inf formed into squares. They didn't even have bayonets (early period) and they still did a good job of stopping me after my opponent brought his cav in to support.

I think even history has shown that in the 18th-19th centuries most full on cavalry charges against lots of infantry end up in failure (waterloo?).

Light Infantry spam? Not so much. Especially when they keep running away. I fought a guy that was three mortars, two cavalry, one general's bodyguard, and the rest were Jaegers.

Not fun, but I won. Just fix bayonets and charge. He can't run forever.
