    Default Tech Tree

    Hey all,

    I just downloaded this mod and i love the concept of it, but i'm a bit unsure about the tech tree - why is it some good units become obsolete as you build higher level buildings? Is there a quick and efficient way I can mod the export_descr_buildings.txt file to change it, cos there seems to be a lot of stuff to shift through

    In order to simulate the transition from the age of knights to the age of gunpowder. By 1300-1400 you wouldn't be seeing dark age armies of mailed knights and spear militias. Eventually even Dismounted feudal knights become obsolete compared to the cavalry of the late middle ages. Also, a unit of knights gets torn apart by a unit of musketeers. In order to keep the AI from building the old units instead of the new, dave made them phase out in stages as you built up. This way the AI builds balanced, up-to-date armies instead of obsolete or awkwardly mixed armies.
