Rank Firing units seem to have a bug when they are hiding behind fences. When the rank fires, they run back and get stuck on the soldiers behind them... and then they don't ever fire again... -_-
Talkin about fire and advance formation? I've had problems with that too (esp in/around fences). It works good when it works, but sometimes they dont wanna even get in their lil spread formation to do it right until they're under fire or within range. Seems like they'd line up like that instantly when you click it...so that they'll be ready for war.
stay away from fences and low walls. They are bugged imho. i've had line infantry slaughtered on these damn fences to stupid pathing, not shooting, or just plain stuck.
fences and low walls are bugged also for who attacks them. I have just played a battle with Prussia vs Poland, and the polish line infantry covered behind a low wall. I ordered my line infantry to charge them, and.............they stopped 3 metres before the wall, stood there and they were shot like ducks...no, like jackasses!!
I've actually stopped playing the game now... but prior to a CTD, the units at the wall wouldn't fire on the enemy, even though I was double clicking like a rabid madman on a sugar rush waiting for the green man at a set of traffic lights.
They get stuck on the fences like they used to in RTW on the Siege Towers. I think it happened in MTW2 also, but can't specifcally remember where.
This is a huge issue. My guys also stopped being able to fire when deployed behind walls about 50 turns ago. The AI is using rank fire behind walls just fine though.
I've had the same problem during some of my campaigns...it seems the glitch "creeps" into my campaigns and infects it....
I've found that when the glitch occurs, do not put your men on the walls during the pre-battle setup, but rather have them near the wall. That way, when the battle starts, you can send your men to the walls and they will fire back. Sometimes this works, sometimes your infantry still wont fire...
insufferable glitches....
dude, I have the same problem....freakin sucks...I have to march my men up thru the enemy unit to get them to acknowledge the fact there is an enemy in front of them...
