Analysis should not be diverted by reflections upon the zeal with which the victors at the end of the Second World War punished the defeated for war crimes. The victors were animated by the ideals of the Atlantic Charter and of the United Nations. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was about to peep over the eastern horizon. But first, they wanted a little hanging.

could you be more specific? 'general tips' is a big topic, if you are trying to learn about economics pick a mid-range nation (one of the south american nations) and you have the entire game to work things out. For land combat I suggest the USSR, its very, very hard to lose the eastern front. For Naval combat I suggest the USA, (the only other two naval powers have much more complicated situations) Air force, the USA again. Germany is always a good starting point for any kind of newbie.

I don't really know about Yoda but all my problems come from supply lines and developing my IC.

HOI 2 is the easiest game out there...what exactly is your problem? supply lines? you mean like losing troops to attrition?

I manage to keep my units reinforced but my supply efficiency makes my organization regain fairly slow and now my men can't fight as well as I need them to. But I'm more concerned about my IC, the AI can pump out so much more than I can.

    1. Put a CP behind your troops; CP provide huge supply bonus.

    2. 50 is the minimum IC you need to participate in a war; without that, forget about getting involving in world affair.

    3. Different countries have different tips; generally for low IC countries an army based on infantry is more effective.

Building factories is a waste of time.

Depends on who you are. Anyone that starts the war in 1939 or later can make factories. And should if they want to be efficient. No point in wasting IC to make units that are going to be obsolete by the time the war starts. Because then you have to waste IC to upgrade them.

And if you play as Italy, you are a fool not to make factories. Gotta get that 5th tech team man!

If you are playing as Japan, you are better off massing infantry units. I also am a big fan of 3x9+Arty brigade cavalry armies. They totally rape the interior of China.

In other news, I don't advise trying C.O.R.E. until you have a handle on the original game concepts. I tried a game as Greece in it a while ago, with my lofty goal being survive, and my much less plausible goal being revenge on Turkey and a modest Balkan Empire.

In C.O.R.E. though it's even more difficult to play as a minor nation, because you can't build IC for a while. I think for Greece it is something like 50s Light Industry before you can build IC, and considering you only have 1 tech team(maybe it was 2, I forgot), focusing that much on industry is nigh impossible. So when you consider that even if it's your sole focus, you have a very minute chance of getting any IC built before the mid-1940s, you have to start exploring other options.

Oh and did I mention you can't build armor or motorize/mechanized divisions or marines, you can't research electronics and therefore no airforce, you only get mountain and reserve troops(infantry by random chance much later iirc), and your navy saw its last tour of duty at the Battle of Artemisium?

Na no, the industry upgrade would grant Italy the 5th tech team eventually (around mid 1938).

On the other hand, Italy has no single resource to support its industry and Central Planning cause industry building too long. The best way for Italy to increase industry power is simply conquer other countries; fortunately there are bunch of events that give Italy nice little war without anger any great power. My typical plan of Italy is conquering Ethiopia -> join Nationalist Spain in Spanish Civil War -> attack Nationalist Spain right before Repulican die -> Launch a Balkan campaign in 1939 -> attack Vichy in 41 (may anger Germany) -> join Axis if Germany get Moscow, join Allies if Axis did not reach Moscow.

The nice thing about Japan is Nationalist China would not Human Wave you in full force like human player did, so encircle works very well.

lol that game is pretty fun, start in 1937 and just build industry everywhere, and upgrade your technologies, eventually buy 1939-40 you will be able to participate in ww2 if your not the one starting it.

One time i was germany, i beat Soviet Russia, (captured Lenigrad, stalingrad, and moscow, they gave up) i got like north africa, and i launched nuclear weapons at britian and USA couldn't do about it lol,

    Ehehe

How long did it take you to get the Soviet Union to give up?

My personal best is 3 months. June 21st 1941 invasion.
