    Default Overheating system and crash

Holy Hannah! It actually caused my processor and video card to overheat, and it has smoked my main machine! Never had that happen. Heard the processor fan speed up, and I mean speed up, then the video card fan, then overheat errors. Whoa, anyone have any ideas on this? Checked my task manager, and the proc was running 100% on both cores for a while. Is this normal? AMD 4800+ processor, Nvidia 7800 GT video card w/ 2 gb of 3200 ram. All case fans running, nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing else running than the game. I've never had a heat related shutdown on this machine, its my main photoshop workhorse. Sorry; Xp Pro Svc Pack 2, all other updates added. Machine has NEVER run hot on any other game, ever. Its always been rock solid.

Video card kind of old. And AMD 4800+? Not really much of a game rig to begin with man.

Yea that's pretty crappy by today's standards. Oh well now you have a reason to get something a bit more modern .

With your old desktop I'd suggest opening up the case and making sure that there is no dust build up anywhere. The fans will suck it in and it will contribute to overheating.
