    Default Inuit Empire

Just wanted to post a quick thread with a few screenies of my partially completed Inuit Empire, vh/vh settings

Tired of being stuck in their cold, barren homeland, the brave Inuit's saddled up and took Newfoundland off the French, then used the captured French trading port to expand firstly into Arcadia, then into Quebec and Northern Canada

While doing so, they seemed to incur the displeasure of the 13 Colonies. Maybe they were a little bit worried about the Inuit Horde flowing down from the North Eastern seaboard. As you can see from my screenshots, it was a grave mistake to stir the wrath of the mighty Inuit!

More screenshots to come later in the campaign !

Do the Inuit's have any other unit other than those axe wielding warriors?

Yes, all the natives get the same units, after constructing a few levels of barracks type buildings -

if a european unit was slaughtered and they were in possession why wouldnt the natives steal their guns and artillery?

Just read the description. It says artillery was too slow for the native americans, it hampered their movement and didn't suit their skirmish warfare.
80% of the people on forums have things in their signature they ask you to copy. If you're sick and tired of this, copy this in your sig
Fun things to do in Total war:
    1. Trample peasants to death with elephants (optionally with culverins)
    2. Burn peasants with greek fire
    3. Bombard peasants with mangonels
    4. Burn peasants with fire-arrows

    Yes, I like my peasants...

Native Americans were and are not barbaric idiots. They adapted to European methods of warfare and while they kept to the irregular side of it most of the time, using guns was not outwith their capabilities.

Native Artillery in ETW is a damn sight more historical than the fact that all the native units march and wheel in perfect, serried-rank formation!

I agree - especially in regards to the native formations

Try Darths new mod - absolutely fantastic for a lot of improvements - one of them being a more realistic 'mob' type formation for the natives

The native artillery is not bad value wise - you get 4 cannon for 150g on large settings - you only need a couple of them, set on a hill, and you can lay down a decent barrage - only thing is you cannot research canister or other advanced artillery techs - but I haven't yet tried just purchasing it from another nation and see if it applies, will do so and see - if it is applicable through buying the tech, 4 canister firing cannon for 150g might be fairly nice

Ah but the question is playing as the natives fun?

Being the underdog is nice but the limited tech and unit selection may get a little boring?

And have you really been using full melee warrior armies and winning lol?

In my inuit campaign shown in these screenshots, it was vh/vh, and having a full stack of melee was pretty much the only way to beat the AI, without getting horribly mauled each battle (morale penalties on vh and 60 man units for most of the other types of native units)

It's much better fun under the Darth mod and under normal/normal you can have a more balanced army, some native cavalry, some archers, some muskets, some elite warriors and medicine men to give you shock troops, it actually becomes quite good fun, even without the tech advances
