Default How do I Land in Antigua ( Wind Ward islands)

The ports contain pirate ships. When I bring a boat to the coast and attempt to drop land units. My boat becomes permanently immobile like the Trade Ship bug. Rather irritating since I have just had to replay numerous times but to no avail. Anyone know a sure fire way of landing troops on antigua or do I have to wait out the pirates leaving there nest?

I'd like to know how to land there as well. But if you blockade their port it is as good as destroying them. It bottles up their fleet.

If you select your navy with the army in it and right click on the city when the attack cursor shows up, it should automatically put your army on land and siege the city. Took me a few turns to figure that out in my own game.

I think I landed an army on one of the nearby islands and used the land bridge to attack the main settlement. As Caelos has posted it's a little tricky to do but it does work.

Some areas of the coast are harder to land. Just move your ship(s) around until you find a suitable spot.

But there is another reason that can stop you landing anywhere. It's if you have a message changing your diplomacy. (war, peace, trade..) Check all your messages and try landing again.

Assuming this isn't a bug (saying the fleet becomes "immobile" is a bit worrying), islands can be tough to get troops around on. I remember sailing round the Leewards Islands North island, where the city is, trying various bits to land on and mostly failing. I think I failed everywhere, but my recollection may be out.

Anyway, the route I settled on eventually was to go to the island just south of the main one, the one which has the port on it. There is a clear bit of land there that you can land units on, and then move them north next turn to the city on the neighbouring island. The reverse process when embarking. With luck, the Windwards will be the same - just try different islands in the group. I hope I have remembered these the right way round - the Leewards are north of the Windwards, right?

Multiple units/stacks may still be a problem since, unlike previous TW games IIRC, ETW seems to have strange behaviour in that regard. For example, in some areas I can disembark an army at one bit of coast, then fail to load an agent close by onto the same navy. If I move the navy a tiny amount along the coast, then the embarkation succeeds.
