    Default Best Army and General

    Salamu folks,

Here's a thread to post your best army so far in the game along with your best general. A few AAR comment will be appreciated. Just to share experiences and your heroic (or bloody) deeds. I begin with mine:

    Osmanlı Imparatorluk

Here is my mightiest army, the Ottoman Northern Army from the Balkans. Many are veterans of the Caucasian Wars that ended with the conquest of Dagestan and Georgia. Some, like the kurdish skirmishers, took part on the Persian War when the Safavids were destroyed and took refuge in the emergent Kingdom of Afghanistan.

Note: my 4 most experienced "3 chevrons" Isarelys aren't here, they're very close occupying Trieste and an Austrian facility.

New troops have also arrived from Istambul: new modern guns and young Yeniçeri musketeers and grenadiers are completing this vast army to launch an assault on the remnants of the Austrian Empire (boooh!) striking right at the heart of old Europe. Zagreb is under siege and Vienna will follow. A smaller army from Moldava is crossing the Carpathians to tear apart the last austrian stronghold of the Balkans.

This Army's leader is more than a mere ottoman general, he's a living legend amongst the troops, both Isarely infantrymen and Deli cavalrymen.

Note: yes I know It's in French. I live in Paris guys

Although Cezayirli "The Algerian" Vefik is not popular on the press and amongst civilians, his victories are countless. Along with his friend "Black Beard" (another general) he crushed all Caucasus, took Crimea from the Russians, and put an end to the Safavid threat. His most famous adventure is to have sailed all around Africa with his veterans for more than a year, to storm Morocco from the Atlantic and take Tangiers on a bold raid. Vefik, who has 22 years of campaigning behind him, is certainly the greatest tactician of the Sublime Porte but his arrogance, his stubornness on the battlefield and his well known taste for blood makes him dangerous for friends or foe alike.

Historical Note: on the TW Turkish Website I found a real Cezayirli (just same nickname but fun!) who was a genuine ottoman pacha like mine: Oh, btw Cezayirli means Algerian as you have probably guessed.

    Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa, (1713-1790)

Your turn now. Any factions. Please respect the pattern I've just set

Here's one of mine. This is the best one I have so far. They've basically been used to conquer spain, Austria, a bit of Prussia and some of Poland-Lithuania. I'm moving them to take out the third last faction left the Russians. After that its the Ottomans and the Inuit which will be gone in about 5 turns (shipping army there).

Lol I thought my Swedish empire was big but that puts me to shame.

I had a general who had numerous victories in Eastern Russia, The Crimea, and Armenia until his death at age 89. But he only had like 5 or 6 stars. Unless he was attacking. Then it went up a few.

Well command level affects autocalc I believe and unless I'm mistaken troops respond better to new orders and movements better than those with a poor command rating. At least that's how I believe it worked in RTW and that's what I'm going on right now.

Lol, yeah, I managed to get India as well as all of NA except the Inuit by 1769. Now its just 3 factions left. Sure speeds up the turn time. I'm aiming to conquer it all to see what the victory video looks like!

P.S. Look at my money lol. I think I'm sitting at like 2 million.

Well the British if not played by the AI, is apparently the most powerful ETW faction from what I've read in the forum.

Please could you mention the faction and other small details? It's not obvious (at least for me)

About the general's abilities it definitely affect the morale of all troops and (I guess) their fighting ability. My Pacha's troops are lions in the battlefield and almost never fall back. Maybe it's also the exp... Anyway I concurr with Andivh's conclusions.

After that its the Ottomans and the Inuit which will be gone in about 5 turns (shipping army there).
That's a pretty odd comparison! Let the poor eskimos in peace

well they're diplomatic relations is indifferent to me but I want to own the WORLD.
As for my general, I think my army gets like a +10 in morale from his traits so they've never retreated. I just did a battle using the improved fougasse and it was SICK. It made the unit that stepped on it route which was basically a line infantry unit.

What do you want to know about Britain?
Here's some off the top of my head. they have 2 special units, coldstream guards (good at shooting), and black watch (good at melee) which can only be recruited in Scotland. As well, riflemen can be recruited from anywhere on the GB island.

My question was for everybody: at first I guessed that your army was british and I have doubts about the other screens.

Please all posters, just tell what faction is that army & general from and some infos about the general's bright career, his deeds and on a more technical level what are this army's veteran units/most valuable units, how they behave in battle, or things like that
Part of the info about ETW gameplay, for all viewers.

For a weird reason, my best general is john churchill of england(every england player knows him) he has an army which took out Cherokees, Iruquois, and the city New France, before going to India for a punch up with mughals and those guys in the extreme north of india (I think they are persians). And as a show of loyalty, none of them ran away except for the 7th regiment which was reduced to 8 troops(they eventually returned to battle and upgraded to 4 of those experience point thingies). But of the 20 units, the best is the 1st-5th regiment and 7th regiment(obviously). I have the "American army", as I call it, and the "real" army, led by john churchill. The 1st-5th regiment took part in every battle except the ones which the American army fought(this american army was made to keep the US in order after the real army went on a holiday to India.) Thats why they are usually sent to fight the Indians while outnumbered while the rest of the army stays back for garrison and replenishing. John churchill is 97, so I got a guy from churchill's bodyguard to replace him just in case churchill dies(which he eventually will). I will miss churchill cause he outdone every british general his generation and the one after that.

P.S. he outlived everyone after his generation too, except an admiral who died at 98.(I don't think churchill will live any longer either)
What the hell happened to this WORLD?

How do you get them to live so long? Mine, even when not killed in action, live to about 70 or 80 something, then die.
One's back is vulnerable, unless one has a brother.

That was a record for me. And I played quite a few times. over the years and turns, there will be this "dice-roll-thingy" in the computer will decide if a leader will live or die. A cheater friend of mine suggested saving every turn once the general became 85 and if he died peacefully in a turn, he will load the previous turn, play again and end turn and keep doing that till the general does not die peacefully(what a bunch of crap!) I always keep MY general at the back of the army and I only use him to ride around the back of the enemy.(I DID NOT say flank)Flanking is too risky for this old guy

Lol. I agree. Once he's up there like that, I'm suprised he can get on a horse.
