I'm really looking forward to making the emergent factions playable, because the nation I'd like to mod is an emergent one. Currently you can unlock all factions, but you get a CTD if you start the grand campaign with an emergent one, because there are no units or territories at the start. I wouldn't mind sacrificing an unimportant faction (f.e. a Native tribe) if I could somehow mod the files to change a playable non-emergent faction to an emergent faction. Is it possible? Which files should we look at?

All that stuff is in the startpos.esf.

I have been working on a esf to xml converter and back, but this will not be easy editing, the xml file for the main campaign ends up at well over 100 MB.
