"If I advance, follow me. If I stop, urge me on. If I retreat, kill me."
I noticed that today. They ram guns properly, but howitzers with their shorter, angled barrels result in the above!
Hi, this is actually a very common animation bug and i think its mainly being caused by 2 things:
1. The animation doesnt line up correctly because the crew doesnt line up correctly with the cannon.
2. This is my own assumption, i think these animations are based on standard cannons, hence they dont go well together with mortars and howitzers.
This could just be lazy programming by CA, not wanting to vreate multiple animations for all the different cannon types.

Call to arms! An army of 5.000 is needed.
It happens all the time looks terrible. Just another lazily done animation by CA. They could have easily fixed this in the production phase.
You are right mate, for a game which "super" production takes so long (i read they were working on empire even after finish medieval2) there are too many graphic flaws/bugs, many which could have been fixed rapidly by CA before the game came out. I know empire is a great game in the TW saga, but i didnt saw too many bugs when i played NTW2, and, in comparation to empire, that was a very well done "little" mod of the same historical period.
"If I advance, follow me. If I stop, urge me on. If I retreat, kill me."
I agree that this is bit too much.
This animation was also apparent in MTW2 with gunpowder units but this is definitely not on the top of my list to fix.
Well it's certainly odd, as they did seperate ones for the mortars.
In a large battle are you really paying that much attention to what your artillary crew looks like while it reloads? Really? It could be a lot worse, and al least its pretty much right on with the other artillary peices.
Cannon reloading animations are dodgy anyway, as for the longer barrelled ones they only stick the rammer in a little way each time... t'is not going to do much like that!
Probably just a slight error/mixup on CAs part, I bet there is a proper howitzer loading ammo somewhere.
Wouldn't call it a bad bug though, just a funny visual.
Yep guys, maybe is not a super very big bad bug, and definitavely i am not searchin for all the flaws/minor errors that the game have in the present stage, but the animation bug on the art crew is pretty obvious and affects all of the art crews, not just the short barrel ones... maybe it will be fixed in the sooooo expected next patch.
"If I advance, follow me. If I stop, urge me on. If I retreat, kill me."
Not a bad bug. There are plenty of things that should receive attention well before this... it doesn't affect gameplay at all. Its annoying, sure, and hopefully will get fixed eventually, but I'd much rather see gameplay bugs receive attention first.
Spent too much time on the Dueling videos, ran out of MoCap budget.
Doesn't need mocap to fix the howitzer loading animation. Could just do it like mortar animation only in 45 degrees angle.
