    On Win XP, it’s situated at: C:\Documents and Settings\[USER-NAME]\Application Data\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

    On Vista: C:\Users\[USER-NAME]\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

    Take care those are hidden folders.

    Hmm, any ideas what's going wrong that would cause Empire to crash just from the user script being present?

    I think it could be the synthax, but the crash seem pretty random to be sure.
    the " should not be a problem but as for the # I really don't know, since sometime empire launch but not the mods(I know that // works too, but at this point I don't know if the mods don't launch for bad synthax or are marked like comments).
    Or perhaps this is coming from a reuse of the script, it could be erased before saving changes (since I assume they are in memory).
    Just guessing there since from the test I've done I've no clue of what happen.

    weird, empire crashes when i use ANY pack files listed as mod type. whereas those same pack files work fine if i set the packs to the movie type. anybody else having this issue?

    For me it crashes when I try to start the game with the script-file present. :/

    I'm using Vista 32bit by the way, if that helps.

    @Ftmch:
    Check what's in the script file and edit it to have something like
    mod My_Mod.pack;
    mod My_Mod2.pack;
    And if your file was really different, do you mind posting it here?
    That could probably help LTChambers.

    The file looks like this:

    mod "ListViewItem: {mod_austria}.pack";
    mod "ListViewItem: {mod_netherlands}.pack";

    That's the only thing in it, it doesn't crash when I clear the file though (not removing it, just emptying it), so it's something in the code.

    Edit: However, the packs seem to work fine when making them into "movie" and placing them in the data-folder, is there any downsides to this?

    Edit again: Ah, I found a downside, not all new textures showed up, darn.

    try editing the script file with this:

    mod mod_austria.pack;
    mod mod_netherlands.pack;
    (don't forget to save in unicode format).

    (put them back in mod format) and that will work!
