Rootless is the traits that indicated that he had betrayed his own kins. he will get it till his death except that general gain other epithet after that but effect will still retained. Their son will be "partly integrated" and their grandson will become normal character as they are truly become trusted part of faction.
If you hated that much then you should remove all its trigger in export_descr_character_traits.txt.

If the general gains enough fame and acceptance, effects can be widely compensated. I once buy a Carthaginian guy that ended with the "Brothers in Arms" trait and the "The Good" ephitet, and then "Graecus" for he defeated many eleucid armies. His "disloyal" trait dissapeared and he died an one of my most trusted generals. Only one of his two children become "partially integrated", the other was a normal guy without any xtrange trait.
I also hated the trait but i watch it work i was funny.
Canīt you simply remove the "no going back" instruction?
