    Default REBELS Question

What exactly is the consequence of not getting rid of rebels in your province?

I noticed most of them are beside roads, are they supposed to be robbing those merchant wagons rolling by?

Is their presence actually affecting the provinces income and profits?

The same thing with those rebel ships sailing inside small patches of water bodies in Stainless Steel, you cant send your navy to destroy them so how do you get rid of them?

    1) Yes, they disrupt trade along the particular route they are occupying.

    2) They cause unrest in the nearby settlement.

    3) I've noticed correllation between Rebels/Unrest and the appearance of Heretics and Witches. Could be mistaken on that, though.

    4) If they're left unchecked they can become larger, and larger. Many small rebel bands will join together to make sizeable armies.

They're not so much of a problem in your heartlands, unless they're blocking the routes for you armies or hampering trade, but the unrest they cause can be a serious problem in your overseas posessions.

Yep, rebels do cause unrest, especially witches and heretics.

They're also great for getting some military traits for your brand new generals. Just insure that the general does most of the fighting.

In some mods, if left to themselves, the ungrateful wretches will become surly and besiege the nearest city.

I am pretty certain they did that to me in vanilla before I began using the Retrofit Mod. The key is adequate defenses.

If you are playing with one unit of peasant archers as a garrison, then a three or four unit rebel group will almost certainly try and take the settlement.

The rebel stacks get a bit larger also as the authority of the ruler gets weaker -- I think. I recall some whopper rebel stacks early witha recent look at Russia when the new Grand Duke had 0 authority.

Rebels cause devastation which will decrease your farming capacity, which makes you lose money. This will affect your population growth due to bad harvests. Which consequently, halts the progress of your city and your faction's economy. This is the biggest threat from Rebels. Watch out if they blockade your vital trade arteries, specifically around your trading hubs. I once lost thousands by leaving rebels unchecked near my Venice - Vienna trade route, and the highways surrounding Constantinople.
