Hello,
I would like to know if anyone has had this problem, and if so, is there a work around:
I am playing as GB and it is around 1755. I attacked the city of Genoa, Liguria and won the assault on turn one of the siege (because the game does not grant victory after I starve them out for some reason). After the battle, it goes back to the campaign map and displays battle statistics. I click the check mark to close this window, after which my army begins to move into the conquered city. This is followed immediately by CTD.
I reloaded and won the battle a second time but had the same result.
The third time, I hit auto resolve and lost.
The fourth time, I hit auto resolve and lost.
The fifth time I brought in lots more troops, and hit auto resolve and won, but again my army was unable to enter the city without CTD (I feel like the guy in Holy Grail talking about how many of his castles burned down and sank into the swamp).
I said, ok, I will just leave them under siege for a few turns and maybe in a few turns, it will work itself out. Wrong; doesn't work.
So I decided to keep playing my campaign and just maybe leave that city alone. But now the same thing happens when I try to take *any* other region capital.
Anyway, this campaign is pretty much hosed since there isn't much point to playing a war game where you can't conquer any enemies.
Like I said, I was hoping that someone here had discovered some sort of work around. Yes, I have used the search feature, and have found a couple other threads where the same issue comes up, but I haven't really seen it addressed at any length.
I have also read the sticky that tells me to install a certain series of nvidia drivers, but I am running an Alienware laptop with mobile nvidia cards in SLI, and I'm just not sure what that would do to my system... and anyway this just doesn't feel like a video card issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and either way, thanks for reading.
Danke.
