Default Get rid of Sliding units

It's becoming more and more difficult to ignore the sliding units

I was wondering if someone could explain what causes this?

I went ahead and loaded M2TW an pulled the camera back and Noticed the units don't slide there, but for some reason they couldn't manage to keep it from happening in this game?

Oh yeah... and does anyone have an idea on how to fix it?

Yes when you pull the camera back to a certain distance the units stop having the appearance of movement and appear to slide.

There are several complaints about it, though I have not seen where someone has explained why it happens or what can be done about it.

look for the LOD mod which I believe is an attempt to address this.

On a related subject, units tend to slide around(close in) while in hand to hand combat. This is REALLY annoying and didn't happen too much in the last games.

there are no sliding units in my battles, I play on high/ultra. is this a problem only for the ones playing on medium or low?
I made a lot of music for RS II, and that is very awesome because RS II is a very awesome mod!

There are sliding units - in particularly routers chased by cavalry. The individual being killed gets 'attached' to the attacker so the animations are docked and synchronised properly - but since the cavalry is still moving as it attacks, the soldier glides after the cavalry as the death animation plays.

Its not that big a deal, but it certainly is more obvious now than in previous games. It occurs in normal melee, as far as i can tell, when two soldiers are docked and fighting, but a third soldier moves into them, the collision system kicks in and slides the two soldiers out of the way.

I guess the higher the visual fidelity, the more obvious it is when things arent perfect.

I dont know..I will sacrifice this little issue vs the apathetic soldiers of M2TW just sort of looking at one another..I like that they actually get stuck in this time around, and if I have to sacrifice a bit of slide,so be it

It's a big issue on any charge really. Watch a infantry unit charge another. When they meet, it's one large slide fest for the first couple seconds. No biggie I guess, but it should be fixed eventually I'd wager.

Odd mine slide if I'm at a long distance, If I'm at a medium or short distance (no matter what they are doing there is no sliding) but I stay at a long distance most of the time so they all run on slick 50 for most of the battle. It's starting to become a game breaker.

Could it be you're looking at sprites instead of the actual units?

No, as I said this happens close in. (I am running on ultra) It is not a problem with the sprites, it's a problem with the units.

The sliding was obviously put into place to improve the 1 on 1 duels, so it's not something we should try to take out, but would it be hard to make them, step?
