Default Someone? Layman's guide to stat moding?

Howdy folks, I have not attempted moding any games before so I have no clue as to 99% of what is being said on this forum, though I grasp the concepts and am quite interested in modifying my own files. My main concern right now is being able to modify the battlefield stats of my units.

Would someone please give me a layman's or idiots step by step guide on how to do this?

    -Most Appriciative.

used the Land Unit Stats Editor:
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=236355

Look for the mod index for some tutorials (stickied at the top of the forum).

Ask away if something's not clear.

    Right! Thanks a lot mate!

For the tool, where do i get .NET Framework 2.0?

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/t...displayLang=en

    ??

When I try to install it it says its not compatible with another version of the product..........I didnt know I had any versions of that.

Also, that tool....does it allow me to change range?

You are going to first need a tool to extract files. Like Lt. Chambers's PackFileMangr.
My advice is to then find your scenarios folder and open an .xml and .battle_script file in notepad. Don't be afraid. These files may look hard at first, but go line by line and it is very straight forward. Make a copy of the files you want to play with and start experimenting.

There are other tools but notepad and knowledge own all. I am not an expert on modding this game, but I have been modding for over 10 years and the formula that i have observed is:

50% reading what others have done
    20% writing code
    10% play testing
    20% fixing your code
