Default How does console game get patched?

I know that in PC we can download patch freely and automatically then just install it and overwrite the previous old version. But how about when developer want to patch console game? How's the process?

I also feels that console game somehow has better graphic then PC any thought?

Console have better graphics then PC? lol

No, otherway around my friend. The only reason you see it this way is because when your on a PC you're way more closer to the monitor so you really notice left out textures whereas on the couch, your on your 360 or PS3 your a bit further away, Also the consoles use different resolutions.

Patches are downloaded into the harddrives of the consoles and when the game is launched they are to overwrite the original que'd files from the disks.

Even an average gaming PC has better graphics than a PS3 and can match anything it can do, which was why I was spitting mad when I played PS3 Fifa 09 and compared it to the pathetic PC version! PS3 Fifa 09 is fluid, flowing, fantastic, fun, fabulous football! Whereas the PC version doesn't come anywhere near: rubbish ball/heading physics, broken collision system, a million bugs, such as invisible players from time to time and a complete lack of any sort of attention to detail.

I have a question about patches as well: On PC games, you can d/l extra (fan made) stadiums, teams, leagues etc. Is there any way to do that with PS3? I know, it's a long shot, but may as well ask!

Well, since the PS3 & 360 both have Hard Drives (well, not sure about the Arcade...) i'd assume the patches are downloaded directly to the HDD (obviously, the Wii and older gen Consoles don't really patch (does the old XBox?)). Hence if you've installed the game on the HDD it should patch theoretically just like a PC does. If it's run direct from disc, i'd imagine the patch files run at startup or whenever they're needed. [I don't own either of the consoles, but this is how i'd assume they work].

I load up a game I want to play, but before the game gets booted, the console asks me: "An update for this game is available from Xbox Live. Download now? Yes/no". I pick yes, it applies the patch and voila. Good to go.
