Default How dangerous are Rogers’ Rangers?

I don’t have the SF Edition. I ask because I’m finding the British/13 Colonies rangers to be exceptionally deadly. They hold their own in a melée better than grenadiers and their volleys! I’ve seen 10+ enemy go down at medium or even long range. Since Rogers’ Rangers seem to be an ‘elite’ version of these units I’m thinking their musketry must drop everything to the horizon…? For that matter has anyone been Britain long enough to get the Green Jackets? If so are they as badass? - granted they shouldn’t be in this era at all, but since the creators would have been weaned on Sharpe you can't blame them.

I've found that Greenjackets, used as line troops in a custom battle, shoot enemy line troops flat, even with the enemy having a two-to-one advantage in numbers. Line infantry are only superior in melee ability, otherwise the Greenjackets win every time.

Never used Roger's Rangers so I can't help there.

Greenjackets have nothing to do with Rangers, or Rogers Rangers for that matter. Greenjackets are a late period light infantry unit whereas Rangers are available from turn 1 if you play britain. you can recruit them at moose factory.
and those rangers arent even nearly has effective as the greenjackets. rogers rangers are just a slightly better unit of normal rangers with different textures.

I haven't seen rogers rangers either - but just in reference to your comment about the green jackets not being in this era - they were formed in 1741, and fought in the Austrian succession war (1741) , the wars with france in northern america and also the war of independence

I really like the green jackets in-game, they are ideal skirmishers - but since they come so late in the tech tree, it's hard to compare to the prussian jaegers who appear very early on, and are super easy to get very skilled fighting early troops, being the only early 125 range troops

I wasn't talking about rangers. He mentioned Greenjackets in the opening post, so I talked about Greenjackets.

Formed in 1741? I didn’t realize the green jackets name goes back that far.

What did these early green jackets look like? The ones in ETW look extremely Napoleonic with their shakos (though to be fair shakos were introduced in the last decades of the 1700s).

Rogers Rangers, to be honest, suck bad. They're a lot more expensive than regular rangers and only enjoy like +1 in morale. And in later era Green Jackets and other light infantry units from other countries such as Grenzers overshadow them greatly.

Rogers Rangers only have a bit higher morale than normal Rangers, which is a pity but it also helps. Fighting natives I put 2 Rangers and 1 Rogers on a flank in woodland, have Rogers shoot until they are assualted by melee infantry, then flank with the other two, a quick volley later and the natives do one.

Think Roger's have a higher reload skill too.
