The only other way I'd see you causing a revolution is by destroying the buildings that make everybody happy. That means getting rid of the coaching inns, the religious buildings, the opera house (in the city)..

Also, you will never get rid of call for reform unfortunately. It still persists in each governmental system, so you'll always have to deal with it. Besides, if you have +10 happiness, why change?

Yes, that's right. The best thing to do is this: take all your troops out of the capital (and it's probably best to get a sizeable army around the city as well), exempt the regions that turn red when you up the taxes (except the capital region) and wait roughly three or four turns. First they'll riot, then revolt, followed by a revolution, during which you can choose to fight for the old regime or the revolutionaries..

If you're in an absolute monarchy, you'll get a republic if you upset the lower classes (not sure what you get if you upset the nobility) and if you're in a republic and upset the middle class, you'll get a constitutional monarchy. There are several ways to travel back and forth through the systems by promoting revolutions in your capital.

In any case, after you've chosen to fight for the revolutionaries and had emptied your capital of troops, storm the city with your army and once you've taken it, you've installed a new regime! That's how I turned France into a Republic on the third turn. Unfortunately I had to behead Louis XIV, but hey; it was worth it!

Yeah, Call for Reform will always be there if you have a school in the province.

What I normally do is blow up happiness buildings, make another school because its beneficial anywyas, blow up and happiness building in the capital and raise taxes just a bit, and normally that does it for me.

Yeah, ungarrison everyone as well and move them far away from the capital so its easier to take the city with your rebels.

this is what i did with britain yesterday. i was a republic and started to dilsike the flag so i wanted to get the union jack back.
    1) pull all troops stationed in london out to the countryside
    2) demolish all buildings in london and the surrounding countryside that increase happiness
    3) raise taxes to the max

after 1 turn i got a letter from nobility, after 2 turns i had my revolution.
ofc, the demolishing of buildings will set you back a bit but if you really want that revolution its a small price to pay

what good comes from a revolution in the game? as i have understood the only difference between a monarchy and a republic is the number of times you can fire ministers. and some happiness stuff but i havent had any problems with happiness as a monarchy

different flags, and as i said, i was starting to dislike the british republic flag

the population happiness is quite a big issue, in a monarchy its relatively easy to get a revolution but once youre a republic it can get quite bothersome to get your population to revolt.
