Rig in sig. Runs at 40FPS or higher (CPU-based dip down to 30 during giant melees) on ultra, 0xAA, 16xAF, everything except SSAO and Vsync ticked.

Amd Phenom X4 9150e 1.8Ghz <<<<<<LOL i need a better cpu. Its whats bottlenecking my pc right now at 20-30fps.
    Ati Radeon 4850 HD
    5gb ram
    Vista 64bit

For some strange reason...going from low to ultra is only a drop in like 5-7fps...lol?

    i7 920, 6GB RAM, ACTS 840, 4870 1GB, Asus P6T Deluxe, Vista 64bit, Dell 2007.

Runs OK on mine - only time I have had problems is when I owned Paris - it always froze on it for some reason, and my recent issue of posts giving me a CTD...which is apparently due to not having a sloop in the ports and fleets - so hopefully be able to fix that issue tonight.

Build i7/920 with 280gtx sli in anticipation of the game. Talk about overkill! also, ETW is completely unstable on it. Oh irony! Playing just dandy on my 'old' e8500 rig lol

lols, I'm running it with a 1.6GHz single core, 2GBs RAM and an Nvidia 8500GT. Frame rate sucks as you can imagine

    AMD 2.8GHz single core FX-57
    NVIDIA 8800GTX 738MB v-ram

Not exactly a screamer by today's standards. Was not that long ago though. Today you can probably get a decent gaming machine for what I paid for the CPU alone. Anyhow, I game at a resolution of 1920*1200, Lots of ultra settings, the rest high, 4xAA and 8xAF, HDR, Volumetric, Hardware Shadows BUT unit size is set to medium, which I prefer anyway. I get decent FPS considering the machine's age and the high resolution and unless the battles are huge, the FPS I get is 'smooth as silk'. So far only where there's really big naval battles I suffer some.

Don't get too caught up in the chase of more FPS. Turn off the FPS counter, and if it then runs smooth enough for you to enjoy the game, you are good to go.

LOL at GF part, that was funny to me. Just tell her you had to do your own shopping trip so you could understand how hard it is for her to spend your money?

    Greetings,

    My rig is as follows:

    i7 920 2.66GHZ
    ASUS P6T X58 SLI/Crossfire Triple Channel
    3 gigs RAM
    Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4870 PCI-E 16X 1GB DDR5
    500GB HD
    XP Professional SP2

Now, I've asked this on the threads before, but shouldn't this set-up run the game on the highest settings just fine? I thought it would, but I don't know why I 'm having performance problems. I've recieved advice and help and I'm also open for more.

i think its your CPU and RAM. I find that people who have duals/quads @ 3.0ghz or higher with over 4gb ram and usually 8800gtx (for nvidia) or 3000 HD series(for ati) or newer have non-existent problems. =]

My apologies, I don't think I quite follow you. Isn't the ETW suppose to "run great on i7"? Are you saying that the CPU and the RAM isn't good enough to run the game on the highest settings? I hope not, I was really looking foward to finally play a Total War game maxed out, or at least pretty close to it. I don't know it is just kind of disappointing. Thanks for your response.

Not true. I have 4ghz i7 with 280gtx sli and 6g ram, fresh Vista 64 install, and the game CTDs every fracking 5 minutes (ok, I'm exaggerating but still, it's very frequent). The system is rock-solid otherwise, I did a whole suite of stability testing before I started playin on this rig. Crysis runs with flying colors, ETW crashes all the time. I'm just glad I didn't get rid of my old gaming rig, ETW is stable on it for whatever reason
