    Icon5 Prussia- Constitutional Monarchy

Ok, my brother has been trying to get Prussia to be a constitutional monarchy.

He started a new campaign, increased the taxation to maximum for the noblitilty . They up rise after a couple of turns, he joins with the rebels, takes the Prussian capital. Message pops up and says the revolution was a success.

The flag doesnt change, and in the goverment window, it still says absolute monarchy.

Is he doing something wrong? Is it a game bug? Or is it just impossible to be a constitutional Monarchy while playing Prussia.

I tried making France a constitutional monarchy too, and it did the same thing.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks...

yea thats what i figured. However after the revolution (nobility revolt) the flag stays the same (which it should) but in the government window it still says absolute monarchy.

Yep i was answering the other guys comment.

We just tested it and it works, got to go republic then get the "middle class" pissed, then they revolt and form a constitutional monarchy.

    +rep for the help.

    Cheers.

DOH! Prussia is an absolute monarchy to begin with, therefore you must have a people's revolt to create a government. TAX THE PEOPLE not the nobles.

You didn't even read the thread...

Does creating a rebellion have any lasting negative effects on your empire?

Why do I have so many people clamoring for reform in the lower classes right after I had a successful revolution to Republic? Almost as many as before!

Clamor for reform is a safety check on people who think it's cool to cheat and build dozens of schools. There really isn't anything you can do about that, just build less schools and tear down some if it's causing that much trouble.

I wouldn't quite go that far - in a republic you can have as many schools as you'd realistically want. 3-4 in your capital is doable, as is dotting them around all your other provinces. However, for each school you add, its one less textile mill - so its a trade off between research and cash.

Imo, its there to clarify the differences in gov type, as well as to give some historical color/feeling to the game. Though it varied by region and time, the 18th to 19th century was often dominated by social instability.

Although I will say the class struggle portrayed in ETW is quite far off. The reforms/social dissidence was typically centered around urban centers, and especially pushed by the middle class - not (as in portrayed in the game) the peasant farmers. That's not to say the lower classes didn't revolt or rebels, but it was typically around more practical matters of daily life than lofty ideals about the rights of men.

I think that you're making a bit of a classification error there. In the E:TW Monarchy system there are Nobles, and then there is everyone else. "Lower Class" includes everyone of non-noble birth, be they rural farmer or urban merchant. The "Middle Class" is only made distinct from the lower classes after a revolution.

revolutionizing does have an effect, when most other nations are absolutes or constitutions as u can hav up to 50 negative points realtion wise due to havin a different gov type just after a revolution

You cant cheat in a game by doing something allowed by the code. Besides, schools kill your economy. Though, personally, I would rather they had a final level tech that switched clamor for reform from unhappiness to happiness for republics called free education.
