So, how many times have you killed your own general?

I keep accidently killing my own general.

My favourite method appears to be the artillery to the face from point blank range, though getting shot by line infantry is also fairly common.

I've also had him taken out by the first artillery round of the battle, lucky gits.

My generals have an estimated average life span of 3 battles and a 75% chance of being killed by friendly fire.

Most of the time when I loose a general its from trying to use him to bolster a faltering spot on the line and a stray bullet will get him.

Only once. He was behind my howitzers when one of them suffered a massive misfire with explosive rounds, causing the ammo box to start exploding Lost 2 howitzers, half the gun crews and the general and around 4 of his unit died too.

Second officer kill was in a naval battle. A 2nd rate chain volley flew at an enemy ship, but after going through the sails fell on my admiral's ship. Straight at his face. Crushed by friendly fire.

I have one Admiral that is getting up there in years, but has seen more action than just about every single officer in my campaign. He's graduated from the brigs and sloops of my early years to right now commanding his First rate and 5 third rates.

In the most recent engagement, he was one of a few still alive on deck after being raked by cannon fire from Swedish war ships. Only 40 crew members alive at the end of that one.

I told myself that after this North Atlantic campaign, I'll let the guy finally retire.

I dont think I have had any from FF, usually I am trying to break through a part of the enemy line and my other cavalry are engaged so I send him on out and he gets killed sometimes, usually hes alright though.

George Washington died from friendly fire towards the end of my RTI campaign. A canister shot to the face from your own cannons is a sorry way to go. Especially for the hero of the revolution. He single handedly took the whole east coast from the British from Maine to Florida. These definately aren't the generals of M2TW. (and thats a good thing imo)

Disbanded the unit in port, recruited using existing ship, and got the same name and everything.

Only time I've bothered to do this.... I take it I've either stumbled on a freak 'feature' then?

dont know how many I lost, I think 5 so far, the first 2 were through own actions, like pursuing routing troops, while my infantry shooting a last volley.
the last one... lost yesterday was really damn luck for the enemy
their artillery was shooting on my lines, and the first cannon ball hits....?

look at your fleet, point a ship where u want your admiral, then choose "buy Admiral"

or look at the forum and search fleet, admiral etc.

I lost an Admiral while he was entering a ship, my ship was wrong placed, so half of my crew jump into water, the other ship was firing all tghe time, so my Admiral 3th class sunk...

A general i lost while he run after fleeing units... he was the only one... i don't see that... just get the message... think he jumped over a fence and was killed by accident

Happened when my men were about to face two stacks of enemy. I set my guys up expecting they would attack from the front, but lo and behold, the reinforcements showed up in the rear and they attacked my general (who was right behind my artillery). My artillery did a 180 to meet the coming threat and blasted away my general without hesitation.

When I just bought the game and realised starting cannons couldn't fire over men... Cannonball straight into the middle of the guy's unit from 5 yards.

Mine keep walking into stakes when the whole army is marching about. The infantry walk past them, but he and the rest of the unit annihilated themselves in a rather comic fashion by walking onto them.

I once had an admiral killed by a lucky piece of roundshot. The enemy ship only had six cannons left, and one of those balls just happened to hit my admiral. shame really, he was pretty damn good.
