    Default Ancillary Advice Needed

    What I am doing with ancillaries is coming along well, I have about forty-five unique ones added to my customized campaign, but I do have a couple of problems and am unsure if their is even a solution.

    I have an ancillary called Forest Keeper;



    What I would like is a small chance for a character to obtain it only when they end a turn in a forested region, is that possible and if so how should that look in the export_descr_ancillaries.txt?

    I also have another called The Wolf Slayer;



    What I need with this (And a few other others that will operate in the same way) is for characters to obtain it randomly with a very low chance anywhere in the map where they stay stationary for one turn, except in settlements. Is that possible and if so how should that look in the export_descr_ancillaries.txt?


    The others I have so far I managed to get to work on my own, by going over tutorials and reading what is present already in the txt files. But some times that is not enough, I appreciate any help anyone can give me with this.


    Edit - Almost forgot, how do I add a bonus to fighting in woods to a trait or ancillary?

    Don't think you can test for 'forested area'.
    You can test for movement points to determine if the unit has moved, in connection with 'not turnendedinsettlement' or something to that effect.
    Not sure about the 'wood fighting'.

    That is a shame, would have been a nice thing to add, but I can just have a normal command bonus instead. I will just have to come up with some alternate condition to give the Forest Keeper Ancillary, though I am not sure what. That is my biggest problem, deciding on what condition to receive an ancillary, making them and writing the description text is easy but deciding how exactly a character should receive it takes me a while to decide on.


    So my Wolf Slayer trigger should look like this? Meaning a character has to stay stationary for one turn in the wild to receive it? I never knew what the condition RemainingMPPercentage was, it is movement points, right?

    Trigger trigger_the_wolf_slayer
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition not EndedInSettlement
    and RemainingMPPercentage = 100
    and IsGeneral

    AcquireAncillary the_wolf_slayer chance 3

    If the above is correct then I can get a bunch of my ancillaries done the way I want them, randomly in the wild. Staying stationary for a turn is important, it would be the equivalent of the character searching the area he is in.

    So far I have almost 50 unique ancillaries, I am a slow worker but it is getting there. Problem is I keep changing them and tweaking them all the time rather than settling for what I have done and moving on. I want to get a bunch more done then I think I will get started on traits.

    Thanks for the advice Gigantus just a shame about the forest thing.

    You could define the regions that this ancillary should be available like

    IsRegionOneOf [number, number, number]

    You would need to manuely type in the wooded regions, as I don't think that there is a way to have EDA check for the terrain a character has ended his turn on.

    Interesting, almost all my forested areas are regions upon themselves, so that might work, but I do not quite understand how I use this. Would I write it like this?

    Trigger forestkeeper_trigger
    WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd
    Condition not EndedInSettlement
    and IsRegionOneOf #
    and IsGeneral

    AcquireAncillary forestkeeper chance 5

    Forest_Of_Shadows is the name of one of my regions, but how do I know the number to place above?


    Edit - I added 1 - 50 and tried it out and it works so thanks Konny! Now it is just finding out which regions are what numbers, which I have no idea how to find out, anyone know?

    I use "show_cursorstat" on the map.

    The numbers are according to your descr_regions entries. Count starts with zero.

    If your file is tight (no empty lines) you can do a line count (Ctrl+G in Notepad), deduct the number of the toplines and divide by 9.

    Starts with zero? No wonder when I counted I got the wrong number, I started with one.
