i dont expect the first part if what i would like to attempt to do would be hard i want to increase the cost to produce and maintain ships to match that of land troops, as ships should cost more not way less than an army.
secondly i imagine the starting fleets in game would be economic cripplers for the player and the AI alike so they need to be dulled down to start.
third this would only work as far as game play balance if the pirates, yes those pesky guys with stacks and stacks of ships, were effected by this new change in costs so as to have smaller fleets untill their income is up from raiding more proffitable trade routes later in the game.
and it would also need to cover the barbary states, never had a run in with them but i dont hear good things.
could someone point me in the right direction to get this done?
oh and i want to increase cost to produce by like 3-5 times per ship to make them more of a capital investiment of the nation as a whole not just a few gold. the upkeep should go up in my opinion somewhere in the range of 2-3 times so those ships of the line ( the smaller ones ) costing around 200-250 gold a turn in upkeep were more like 500-750 something equivelent to a small armed force since thats basicaly what a ship is in terms of man power and fire power, oh and dont forget maintenance they take a bit of that too
