My line infantry wont fire over walls now, and only elites and grenadiers will, but they only fire front rank despite knowing rank and platoon fire.

I think you might have to check the terrain, if the land dips the wall carries on straight - as if the terrain is flat, so your'e men look like their under the wall-wierd!
But try taking them off the wall & putting them back on
If this still does not work Then I hope there will soon be a patch to fix this, or if someone else has found a solution?.... until then I do hope you get it fixed cause it's a nice little feature in the game!!!
yes, I've been having the same problem during some of my campaigns. For some reason, the glitch "creeps" suddenly into my battles and the battles afterword.
My current Austrian campaign doesn't seem to suffer this glitch yet...
When the glitch does happen,I have observed that during the pre-battle setup, if you put your men on the wall during this time, when the battle starts, they do not fire. But, I have seen greater chances of them firing from the walls if you put the men on the wall ONLY after the battle has started.
another glitch related....I have noticed that during some battles, if an enemy unit is behind a wall, I have a hard time selecting one of my units and telling it to attack the enemy unit. I do not hear or recieve a confirmation from my unit that they are going to attack that enemy behind the walls. Even the cursor does not have an attack icon over the enemy unit behind the walls.I end up having to march my unit thru the enemy unit in order to engage in melee.... really annoying....

That is strange, thanks for input, I will put my units on the walls ONLY after the battle starts, thanks for sharing!!!![]()

i have noticed this also... and, you might want to check this out too...
i start a battle with my men already lined up against some walls, i begin the battle. i do a bit of artillery work here, a little cavalry charging there and decide the time is ripe to move some of my infantry forward. this is when i spot the evil!
all the units i'd placed against walls were now, exhausted or very tired (they hadn't fired a single shot or moved at all!) and the men i'd had standing idle by my artillery were fresh or active!
was not impressed!
