    Actually never mind, I'll buy the original. Thanks for your help anyway.

    Do any of you know how to mod Empire? Like how to create regions and factions? I had started working on an Italian Peninsula mod for Medieval but then I had to change computers. I'd like to create or help create a Napoleonic or U.S. Civil War mod, I think that would be very interesting.

    I live in Indonesia, it's incredibly hard to find any original games here. I spent the whole afternoon trying to find a shop that would sell them, and when I found one, they said they would order it and that I had to go back tomorrow to get it.

    Ditto.

    Also imho it's a bit rich to complain about stability issues when you have a pirated game.

    Way to go to motivate CA to help us paying customers out here...

    Agreed, which is way im curious why my post was deleted.

    Was NOT promoting it just stated, if its not in steam then its pirated and when he was going to rply, i was going to say. Buy it then come back and ask for help...

    Any way..

    I'm just going to wait for a patch now. I've gone as far as I can be arsed now with tweaking my OS etc and doing the dev's work for them.

    If you are using Vista simply deactivate UAC

    I did buy it, I ordered it and I'm collecting it today. Sorry if I caused any inconveniences, I didn't mean to promote the use of pirated games and I understand that using them will obviously cause more problems and discourage CA to create patches for the honest community of this site. I'll post if it worked for me or not after I get the order.

    Awsome article, I learned tons! I thought it was great you could address these issues, but find it strange the developers didn't see this comming? I am having issues as well, and after reading countless posts of CTD's and loading errors, it seems to me this is the major problem of this game.
    Nice to see a CA rep chime in though. I love these games and will hope for a fast fix from the devs.

    I had problems with the game crashing, and it works now after disabling PhysxX and uppdating my chipset.

    Maybe Boris would add it to his fix list? (for Nvidia SLI users)

    I've been running my GTX280s in SLI mode (Vista 64bit, Quad Core) with some 185.20 beta drivers from this site;

    http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...11190&Itemid=1

    I did get one blue screen of death in the 2-3 days I've been using these drivers. I've tried the latest beta drivers from the Nvidia site but they don't work for me.

    Hello
    I just got Empire.
    When I try to play the tutorials, grand campaign, or episodes, everytime it begins to load I get a white screen and then a message pops up saying "Windows has encountered an error and the game needs to close".

    I have 2 GB ram, nvidia geforce 8600GT, Windows XP SP3, latest drivers. netframe 3.5..I have even set the graphics settings to the lowest but nothing seems to work..I cant do anything expect move around menus because whenever I want to start a campaign the gold bar loads half-way through and I get the white screen.

    Please read the details in the original post. It clearly states that this will not affect everyone.

    To make it easier for you - read the following;

    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Why are you affected when others are not?
    Each machine maps different amounts of virtual addresses on start up. It's affected by many things. Large impact to virtual addresses being reserved, and therefore becoming unavailable, is due to things like Vista, large memory video cards, multiple devices whose drivers reserve addresses on boot up, etc. These reserved addresses can be viewed in ones device manager.

    I have 6GB ram and 64 bit OS but this game was crashing every turn nearly at about 1740. I just added this fix and no crashes for 8 turns .Everything running really smooth on ultra settings. Thanks very much for this....keeping my fingers crossed.
    Why can't CA just do this fix ?

    Thanks. This explains everything and I'm glad you took the time to do this. It makes me wish Microsoft would just stop making 32bit operating systems and force everyone to just code for 64bit!

    Sadly we can't use the modified exe with the new patch anymore.
