    Default last release?

    hallo,

when has the last version of this mod been released?

i played it a few months ago and i remember that i always had a ctd after the 25 round (at least i think it was the 25 round).

now i would like to give the mod another try but first i would like to know when the last version has been released and if the bug has been fixed.

The last release was about 10 days ago. The next one will come out in a few days. As for the bug, it's hard to say without some more detail.

ok, thx for the fast answer, i know that its impossible to tell me if the bug has been fixed without any informations about it.

i installed the game and for a few rounds everything went fine but then i besieged a rebel city (i am playing the sabaeans). during the ai round i got attacked by an rebel army coming from the desert, the city army supported them.
i won the battle and managed it to completly destroy the city-army. back on the campaign map i had the option to occupy the settlement, after clicking on it the game crashed.

That is not a bug with XGM, that is a bug with basic RTW and affects all mods.

The only thing you can do is save regulary and auto-fight or withdraw from that battle.

guess i will do it the way caesarvincens proposed. i will let 1 or 2 of then survive and then i will attack the city during the next round.

haven't had this happen to me for a good long while, but as previously stated it is not a problem with the mod but the basic RTW engine.

That's a well documented bug, trying refighting the battle and letting some of the garrison survive.

Expand your borders, a mod based on XGM 5.

Not to dig up a thread, but some people have reported having enemy agents in cities might affect that... I usually just a) autoresolve the battle if you can retrain or b) make sure to leave ~100 men left on the garrison's side. Annoys the hell outta me since its the only instability XGM has for me.

What exact city has this instability?

It can be any of them, it seems to be when several factors happen at the same time, annoyingly you can't find out if it will happen until the battle ends.

Any city, its the reinforcement bug. If you are sieging a city, the enemy sends a reinforcing army to help (so you're facing two seperate armies on the field) and you kill off all the garrison troops and take the city, when you click occupy (or enslave, etc.) you can get a CTD, sometimes its persistent, sometimes not. Quite odd, but its not just XGM, I've had it in just about every mod I play.

It seems a lot of people have this problem. I have never actually experienced it. The last two times I've played as GCS I sieged Corinth in the first turn. Like clockwork they send a full or almost full stack down in support and I have destroyed them. But, no CTDs. Wish I knew if there was something different about my R:TW that I could help others fix this problem...

In fact, the only CTD I've experienced was related to creating a formation with a unit in the process of pushing the battering ram. It happened every single time in vanilla. IT seems the XGM guys have isolated and eliminated it though.

Is there still an overwhelming Scythian and Parthian expansion in the newest version?

The Parthians are pretty decent for the most part, they don't destroy the Seleucid Empire and Ptolemaic Empire in the first 50 turns like they used to for me.

The Scythians are just as hilariously overpowered as they always were, unfortunately.

You can make easy and simple modifications that will prevent the Scythians from taking over the world if you want, though. That's what I did.

Yes, for the most part. I find its a little better than in previous ones (Scythia, at least). Sometimes Thrace balloons and can contain them better, or Armenia is taken over by TSE and that holds them in the east, plus the Indie Greek garrisons are a bit stronger... Parthia and Baktria seem to take turns being the dominant eastern faction for me, eating at TSE and then turning on each other... But big Parthia is something we want, its nice and historical. Scythia is a problem.
