    Default Roots of Yggdrassil

    Download:
    http://www.mbrepository.com/modules/...cid=7&lid=1167

Well, I'm guessing most of you already know me, and a large portion of you will know of this mod anyways, but this is for that small number of you who don't. Roots of Yggdrassil is a mod I've been working on for a while now, and it's getting pretty close to a release.

It takes place in a sort of made up, nameless land, but the people who fill it should be rather familiar, being based on those men from Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Scandinavia and Finland (a few other places as well) during the period known as "The Dark Ages".

There are 10 factions in this mod, although one of them doesn't have any Lords nor do they have a King. These pitiful fellows are the "Settlers". The other nine factions are:
    Diran Clan
    Saexenr Clan
    Borgr Clan
    Brugr Clan
    Serthr Clan
    Valdyr Clan
    Heithr Clan
    Ulfr Clan
    Bjarndyr Clan

And the Kings of these factions are: (In the same order)
    King Dirus the Ox
    King Ingvi the Killer
    King Ivan the Head-Hoarder
    King Rangarr the Troll-Slayer
    King Egil the Cruel
    King Jorund the Strong
    King Girt the Coward
    King Thorgil the Wise
    King Thorugrim the Bear

    FEATURES:

    • Mirathei's Naval battles
    • No more horses
    • No more crossbows
    • Highlander's Kingdom Management
    • Vilhjalmr's permanent death (optional)
    • New map
    • Ten factions
    • Many new items
    • "New" animations
    • New archery reticule (dots)
    • No more health bar
    • Some dialogues translated to Old Norse (VERY roughly, might I add)
    • Sailing
    • New parties to fight
    • New sounds (from More Metal Sounds mod)
    • Hunting

    CONTRIBUTERS:
    Vilhjalmr
    Highlander
    OSP contributors, again and again
    Mirathei
    Dudro
    -Peter-
    Fei Dao

As a side note, I have plans to one day, once I've improved my skill, make Roots of Yggdrassil a mod for not only M&B, but M2TW as well. (Assuming it's possible, not quite sure yet...)

Sounds interesting, but if they all have a Nordic influence won't unit diversity be a problem?

Not really, actually. I managed to keep the troop trees from being too similar by making factions based around one type of weapon, and a few sort of militia units. For example, one faction has mainly javelin throwers, while another will have swords and shields and one has two handed axes. That and using a lot of retextured armors to have the faction's color on it somewhere should give the units enough diversity to provide amusement for extended periods of time.

By the way, you have the same sig .gif as I do on the TaleWorlds forum.

There should at least be one really, really expensive hunter horse don't you think?

Naw. Horses make the game too easy for players.

But if I want it to be so expensive so that by the time you can buy it you already have a good-sized collection of fiefs, then chances are nobody will have invested in the horse-related skills, and make the horse useless anyway.

I don't think a horse is ever useless. Doesn't it make you faster on the campaign map?

But mainly I was think of the vikings where horses would be like swords, something only the nobles would really be able to afford.

Great, Ruthven has come to taleworlds. well at least he cant get me banned here.

Anyway, viking mods, Scandanavia or any sort of mods that is about that place really dosent intrest me. (unless we get to the era of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.)

867-Lords of War is more historical, methinks. He's also got more models and more shields and more armour. However, I released a little test of the mod, which can be found here:

@newromans: Why hello there. Long time no see, I suppose.

Its a pretty good mod, the combat is absolutely awesome.
It just seems a little lacking. Maybe it needs a Sword of Damocles style kingdom managment.

Highlander's Kingdom Management is included. IIRC, that's what Sword of Damocles uses.

    a) I don't make maps. My map editor broke a while back, and I'm getting my friend to do it for me. (Dudro)
    b) I'm no good at helping with a mod that isn't my idea. Last time I tried helping someone else's mod, it was Europe 1080, and eventually it progressed from "assigning a few castles to factions" to "doing almost all the coding".
