Default Anyway to get a Christian emperor?

I tried the campaign once with the romans, and since Iulian is pagan, each city that has a church would get a +5% unrest by the province and +5% unrest by the emperor.
I kept waiting for Iulian to adopt a Christian son, but that never happened, nor did any "man of the hour" happen.
So, what if I just sent Iulian and the heir into battle and they both died? Would the roman campaign still go on? Or would the augustus be the highest general among the army commanders?

Julian didn't have an heir, so you to wait until an adoption is offered. This will usually happen when you start to run out of generals.

If Julian dies before he has an heir then the campaign is over.

Historically speaking Julian was named as Constantius II heir in Constantius' will, even though Julian was not his son. If Julian had left a will naming an heir then that would have settled things. But, even then, a usurper could have disputed the will by declaring the purple.
And, the army could also take things into their own hands and promote someone else to the purple. Both Jovian and Valentinian I were raised to the purple by the army shortly after Julian's death.

Yes, but in the game Constantuius II is either dead already (361AD) campaign, or his rival (355AD) campaign.

I was just making a comment really, just a bit of historical flavour.

No, my understanding is that currently conversion can only happen if the character is a pagan, disiilusioned and can only convert to a christian. And yes, being in a city where there is a christian church increases the chances of the conversion, but the character must already be disillusioned with paganism.

Wouldn't it be more likely, in Julian's reign, that more people would be going towards paganism, like they did to christianity when constantine 1 showed up? Or is it hardcoded?

Conversion of the masses is influenced by the characters in the region, the leaders religion and of course the religious buildings in the city.

The religious converion for IJV3.0 will allow some flexibility for characters between different religions. If your characters, say become predominantly pagan then this will increase the likelyhood of the citizens being converted as well, but of course may cause unrest, which is what happened.
