How to install mods for the STEAM version of Kingdoms!

So, like most steam users, I was highly disappointed after realizing how complicated/near impossible it appeared to play Kingdoms' mods through steam. I tried the various suggestions proposed on the forums, but to no real avail. Anyway, I finally found a way to make it work. The main problem I encountered concerned the mods' installers not detecting my Kingdoms's installation.

Someone proposed copying the kingdoms.exe launcher into the default installation location. Logically, I thought that location would be C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War. However, for steam users, that default location is actually C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war

So, had you installed steam in it's default location, you likely never would have had any issues. However, for people like myself who install steam on a different partition (for the extra hard drive space), all you have to do is:

1. Create a new path in your C: drive (C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war)
2. Go to the place where you actually did install steam, make a copy of your kingdoms.exe, and place it in C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war


(I forget whether or not the installer gives you an option for the installation path so...)

3. Make sure you have enough space on your C: drive to install whatever mod you want (3GB for Kingdoms Grand Campaign.)
4. Install the mod to the default path.
5. Transfer the files from the default path to your actual steam installation path (for me, this is D:\Steam\steamapps\common\medieval ii total war.)


6. Start the game through the steam launcher.



7. Tell me if it worked for you!


I have done this with Custom Campaign 2, Kingdoms Grand Campaign mod, and Stainless Steel 6.whatever.

Someone alreayd made a guide - but I think yours is prettier! heh

My method doesn't require modifying any of the launch options. I can play any mod directly through the steam launcher, one after the other, without changing any files! And thanks, I think it's prettier too!
