Any chance in the future have this connected to the drumming technology, also be nice if that actually had some kinda effect in battle instead of just a higher move points.

Though thats neither here nor there, i just thought it would be somewhat more immersion friendly if it's something u learn then simply, u get from start.

Hey does it only work for that specific faction? I started in the campaign and have Britain, but no motivating music.

I wonder what the poor bastard did when they close lines

@Seraph07 - No the music is not faction specific in game (Yet). I only name these packs that way because some people like to play as a certain faction. Plus it gives some kind of identity to the faction you are playing!

"I started in the campaign and have Britain, but no motivating music."
You hear no music in battles? A few things then...

1st.) The way the sounds in battle for Empire work currently are spotty. Try and move a single unit forward to test this. If you hear no sound, while it is still moving click the move forward button on your radial thing with the arrows to your lower right on the UI till you see the green markers move just a bit. I find by doing that for the most part "fixes" the music not being played. It my take a few tries using this method to get the regiment to play. Also I have read reports that the new patch makes the sounds in the game even more spottier than usual. The music will also play randomly on only up to 4 regiments total in battles. Another nice limitation in the game!

2nd.) If a regiment contains no drummer/musician, you will not hear ANY music or drums. I have had a battle where my drummer was killed and the regiment stopped playing music. I wracked my brain trying to figure out why my regiment was not playing music and marched all over the field till I discovered my drummer was killed in the initial artillery bombardment! Go figure!

3rd.) I know this is elementary but be sure you placed the music patch file in your Empire data directory only. Someone pm'd me they also had no music playing. After trial and error we found out they had placed the patch file in the wrong folder.

Hope this is what you were asking mate, if not I apologize ahead of time for misunderstanding your post!

No the rest of the music was fine. I did encounter a few problems, and had to get rid of it.
Only 1 unite at a time would play and then sporatically. I also not ridiculous lag, and had to take it out,

@Seraph - Yea, it does it to me to. Trust me, its not the mod, its because of the latest patch. The latest patch is causing all sorts of sound issues for a vast majority of people, including me.

I have been looking for some Swedish music but haven't been able to find anything that fits the period. I only found newer music that is for a full orchestra...

But I stumbled across this, some sheets for celtic music, perhaps some of it fits for drum and fife:

    http://www.cpmusic.com/tradmus.html

There is for example the Pikeman's March, which you can hear here played with drums and bagpipes:

    Nice work, +rep

Oh, and a question, are there 4 tunes in the original pack that can be replaced?

Enjoying the hohenfriedberger, nice work. One thing tho, is it me or does the fifes sound a bit..hollow? synthesized+echo or something.

    First off, Hollowfaith outstanding work!

Secondly, Americans and Yankee Doodle.. yeah its nice and all, but a bit cliche. I was at a recent Continental reenactment, and they were playing the "Royal American Medley" as they marched into Battle. I'll tell you what, that made me want to rush in and join them in the march.

    But again, Outstanding work!

@Croshy - Great glad you enjoyed it!

@LordLaban - Thank you for the links. I am working on something, you should be seeing a march for sweden in the coming weeks!

@Warmaker - Really!? WTF, strange. Your probably the second person that has problems with Megaupload. I keep saying it, but I'll try and move the marches to another uploader when I can!

@aeoleron9 - Are you refering to the vid or the actual music?
1.) If your refering to the vid, the sound is echoing because the regiment in front begins to play and march forward. Then the second regiment comes into view and it is also playing the march but it is delayed a little because it moved a few secs after the first, so that is the echoing sound.

2.) If your refering to the actual audio in the packs. They are from sounds made from a VST made by Edirol called Orchestral. I had to create that fife sound from scratch using two different flute types, plus some of the effects used to give it the sound of a fifer is a Doubler made by a company called Waves, also I had to do some wave shaping and included other filters etc... Hence the sound. Not to mention I had to mix down from a nice stereo mix to a mono file. So yes they are from a Synth in my home recording studio. Also its not like I have a fife and drum corp at my beck and call!

@AmeriBriton - Thanks mate, I hope you enjoy it!

I know, but I have gotten a ton of requests for it so I made it!

    @Erunion Telcontar - Your welcome!

@The Kurgan - Thank you mate and thanks for the offer. I bought a program made by a company called soundbytes, the program is simply called Bagpipes. It gives a slightly realistic sound with the drone and everything. Though, of course it cannot replace real bagpipes! Most of my music is done by me trying to emulate a particular instrument, thats why it sounds a bit 'stiff' and sometimes synthy. I try to do the best I can with what I got. I wish I had the money to buy the expensive orchestral mega samplers.

@Kaoc - Thanks! No worries Austria will get something. Every faction will have a march to.. well march to.

Later this evening I'll try uploading a new version of the March of Narva. I have a few errands to run because of the Easter holiday with family coming over and everything.
So I'll try and get this up today for you folks! If not it will for sure be up by monday morning at the very latest.

To those that celebrate - Happy Easter!
To those that don't - Have a great weekend!

@Black Watch - Your in luck! I bought a program made by Soundbytes that has a realistic bagpipe simulator/sampler! Its called "Bagpipes", (Go figure).
So this stuff is definately in the realm of possibilty! Oh and thanks for the links they will come in handy.

@El Diablo - Soon mate, soon!

@Brips - My modding knowledge is quite minimal. This is my first mod I have ever made. I was originally going to make this for myself and figured why not share with everyone. AS for faction specific, I don't think this will be possible for sometime I'm guessing. Though as a side note, I have been messing with some of the audio paramiters in the games pack files. I have found an event script with a list of sounds that have settings like "Random" and "Linear" and a whole slew of other options for the way audio works in the game!

I have recently received an email by someone claiming that I "Stole" my music from the Blood & Smoke mod. It has upset me quite a bit, the US march will be the last one I'll be releasing for a few weeks. I am quite angry at this accusation considering that I have given up alot of my free time and working with my own band, to work on this mod. I don't like to be called a thief.
I have also come across several thread posts where some misinformed or unknowing person decides to reply to someone who was asking if my mod would work with x or x mod the reply was usually like this, "Probably not, besides he probably got the music from the patriot soundtrack." or my favorite (sarcasm) "Why would you want a mod like that when you can have this mod that has the british grenadiers music and new sfx anyway!". Honestly, why say something like this if you've never given my mod a listen or even tried it?
I do not want to come across as someone who cannot take criticism, trust me I can, I've been playing in bands for close to 17 years now, and have played both live concerts and in demo recordings and sessions. My music is critiqued every day on my bands webpage by listeners and other bands alike. I do like this community, but things like the above mentioned just really burn all the enthusiam I had! I do take my music very seriously though and sometimes to personally, but if you don't like something about the mod or something about a particular song then let me know so I can improve on it later!
The TW community at large is an excellent community, and I have always respected its modders and members and I in no way hold a grudge against you. Sorry about the rant but I needed to get it out.

Dont get discouraged because of stupid opinions/lies.. at least for the sake of us that do apreciate your work . Drum and fife mods may be a small adition but for me at least it makes a great impact on the general atmosphere of the game.

That's very sad to hear, Hollowfaith.. As previous posters have said; don't be discouraged by the rants of lesser informed forum members. These forums can be a bit rough, but don't let the individual nutcases and denigrating idiots get to you. As you've no doubt noticed, there's plenty of interest in this subject, so the more choices we as a community get, the better!

Take as much time as you need, but trust me; there are plenty of people very interested in this subject, so there will always be attention for this mod!
