But all the sources indicate him running as a republican.
Besides, barring exceptional events I'd imagine the Democratic ticket for 2012 is occupied - most presidents go for two terms.

It is way too early to even think about 2012. It will take at least 1 year for any candidates to seriously speculate about running for the presidency. However, the most likely to run are Romney, Jindal, Pawlenty, and Crist. However, those are just the normal, expected, candidates. Depending on the state of the nation, a hawkish swingstater like Eric Cantor could emerge and so too could a northern moderate like Bloomberg.
