Personally, I think the 80's no contest, I mean queen, erasure, eurythmics, human league, depeche mode, frankie goes to hollywood, loads of massive hits.

70s/80s but i don't really understand the meaning of the topic. Each generation has their own unique way of repesenting themselves through sound. I don't think this should be contested. No matter how different or shallow some of the music may seem. People will look back on this decade and only see the very good stuff rather than most of the everyday temporary pop stuff we are exposed to everyday.
60's/70's hands down.
Early 90's
Yeah but you have to admit, that some decades of music were more prefferable to people than others, there were alot of particulary styles in many, like now there seems to be a rather large influx of r 'n' b and hip hop which I can't say I like much.
Shallow noise? Plenty of music that can be found in every era that is shallow noise And plenty in every era that is good.
Tie between the metal fest that was 80's and the grunge pit that was 90's..
hmm..

Lies! No music after the 80's could possibly be good!
*shock*
I'd vote for all of them but I can't.
Edit: except the fifties never heard any of it.

80's. Birth time of Thrash and Death Metal. Also the time of the Second Summer of love.
Then the 60's/70's.

2000's with the rise of orchestral trance and orchestral movie soundtracks.
I have approximate answers and possible beliefs, and different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything, and many things I don’t know anything about. But I don’t have to know an answer. I don’t feel frightened by not knowing.

All the music I've rated (out of 5) on my rateyourmusic profile (which I haven't updated in a while)

OP, you do understand that you're being incredibly vague? Best decade for music? Well, it all depends, what genre are you talking about?
Any decade, before the introduction of those rubbish music where you can't even understand a word...sigh....
But yea, like the dude says, music with orchestra or choir etc, from any decade is 2 thumbs up for me
