Just stating a fact. I played through an Empire Campaign, and all the personality and most of the gameplay is gone. It doens't have the tight feel that RTW 1.5 has. Just thought I'd share this.

    ROME: TOTAL WAR FOREVER!

    Your point?

I said Rome 1.5 was gaming genius, I did not say Rome 1.0 was perfect. It wasn't. But it was a damn sight better than Empire 1.0. Honestly, I feel like I've just bought the warscape engine and nothing else!

    I can't comment on this since I haven't played ETW yet. So I won't.

I have played it and tried quite a few times with different factions and war theaters and it's n ot working. Simply put, that game is something you can do without!

RTW was way more glitchy and stuff without patches. The reason many people think it was better than ETW unpatched is because we were just in awe by the graphics and scale of the game.

RTW 1.5 itselves is rubish. XGM however is perfect, and is way better then ETW.

In my opinion, Empire has Gameplay better hands down with the Addition of Naval Battles, but Rome Total War is MUCH better in terms of Campaign.

ive tried out etw and id much rather play rtw and its mods.

i mean come on. all the units feel the same. all the factions feel the same. the map is gay. the terrain is slightly better. pathing is crap.

many new features but they dont add enough to the game to destory the negative aspects.

What do you expect in the 18th century? There was nearly no variety in troops. Do your research.

How can a map be homosexual? Does he make sweet love with RTW's campaign map?

Super-lol and +rep for you, good sir. I wanted to comment on that too, not because I was offended by it, but rather because it's the first time I've read it on these forums, lol. Everyone here is so much more sophisticated than the people at my school...

I long for the days of Rome. I'm on Medieval II right now. MII has a certain brutality, an unabashed and gruesomely violent feel - but I just miss the panache of those ancient clever clogs. I think I miss Carthage the most.

I'm with many others: Once the mods come out for ETW, it will be, maybe, better than Rome with mods.

However, that depends on a few things.

1: We need those modding tools! Hopefully, they'll come with the next patch we are promised
2: We need the modding community to come together, and not split into a hundred little side-projects. In RTW, we have multiple great, in-depth mods: EB, the various IBFD mods, RTR, SPQR, etc etc. In M2TW, I can only think of one mod that can match them, and that's DOTS. That's because many of the best modders went and did their own thing, each one making their own mod.

IN ETW, all of the units look the same, and the factions play the same. Visually, in diversity, M2TW, especially with such mods such as Ru:TW, looks much better than ETW, in which the faces are all the exact same unless you're on the highest settings, and even then are very similar, and where there is only 2 variations on uniform: dirty and clean, from the looks of it. Even the "exotic" factions, or at least the playable ones, play much like every other european faction: line up your infantry and shoot the bastard.

In RTW, and it's mods, every single faction was different, in more than just geography! The Romans did not fight the same as the Celts, who did not fight the same as the Seleucids, who did not fight the same as Carthage! M2TW was a step backwards in that respect, with many factions being very much alike: tell me again the differences between Venice and Genoa? Aside from the fact that the one has a treachery fetish?

That post was longer than I was expecting...

Rome and Medieval are way better then the Empire. It's just something that is accepted by everybody who attempted to play empire.
Rome is something that is just much more solid.

Problem with rome is that every battle is a siege, including mods... i wish they would make the enemy meet you in the field... also Romes AI don't manage it troops any good, they have 2 troops in all their cities, everytime i conquer a nation it tons of sieges with my full army against 2-3 units of enemies, and 2 battles against a medium sized enemy army... that ruins the game for me...
