Should be able to just sail through, unless theres a ship in the way.

You'll have to wait for the fleet in the way to move, or destroy it.

Im the US and I have Gibralter but no trade route to my port. I dont have a dashed line into my port and when I hover the curser above the main line in shows 0 dollars. I have trade agreements with all surrounding nations. Is this a bug? Any thoughts...

You need resources to trade for the trade routes to pop up, otherwise ports just add a nominal value to the regions wealth every turn.

does it work if a region next to that region has something to trade (something that can go from spain to gibraltar out of it's port.

I always use Gib as a dockyard. Ships from there are well placed to reach most of Europe and a few of the trade lanes within a turn or two after being built.

Scivian, if it shows a 0 for your trade route someone is raiding your route somewhere between you and its destination. If you were not trading it would not even put your nations name in the list for that route.

There is a bug on Gibraltar. I (France) have taken Morroco, am allied with Spain (with military access) and a spanish raiding ship is slap bang in the straits and I can't get through. Grrrr.

Hilariously I have a "Ghost" Pirate Fleet - it ended up in a bit of sea that "is land" and is just sitting there. I can't attack it and it can't move

It may not be a "ghost" fleet at all, it could just be a buncha sloops that are capable of getting into shallower water then what potentially your ships are allowed into if they're say, 3rd rates.

That lil 3 ship fleet the French have outside of Quebec-Montreal is an example that I ran into first campaign. I attempted to smack em around w/a couple of larger ships and couldnt. However, at some point I went after them w/smaller sloops and walla!!!

As far as not being able to get through the Strait, even though Spain is your ally: Doesn't matter, they are completely blocking all access to the Mediterranean, I did this once and then took over the Mediterranean sea. Spanish Galleons are all that exist there now!

I have the same issue. Im not at war with morocco, in fact their my valuable ally, and I just condluded a costly war with spain, and still the route is completely blocked. Short of attacking and taking lisbon theres no way I can get my ships made in Algeria and Tunisia out, which really sucks. I pretty much have to get ports on the other side of spain and then pump out one ship at a time.

Try sail near to Gibraltar (which gives Spain the option to intercept) and after they declined the interception, you can sail through.
