    Default Dead Space: Extraction

Rejoice fans of Dead Space! However, if you haven't heard about this game then what you're about to read will probably piss some of you off: it's ONLY for the Wii....

Ok, calm down...collect yourselves...it's going to be ok.

Anyway, I just came across this about ten minutes ago and thought I'd share for any fans out there that loved the first game and possibly happen to own a Wii (like myself).

Extraction is not simply a remake of the original game that appeared on the 360, PS3, and PC but rather a prequel to both the original and the animated film Dead Space: Downfall. I don't know though if this also takes place prior to the events that happened in Ben Templesmith's graphic novel Dead Space or rather during it. The title revolves around a group of space colonists who encounter and fight an "infection" (most likely referring to the Necromorphs). Extraction also introduces a new female character which the player controls.

Unfortunately, the game is a rail shooter...I don't know how most feel but I can never seem to take rail shooters seriously...they feel WAY to arcade-like for me - which is an especially negative thing for such a atmospheric and cinematic universe like Dead Space's.

However, I will reserve judgment till it comes out....honestly I need some more interesting games for my Wii so I don't think I'd have a problem wasting some money on this if I could be transported to the Dead Space universe again.

But don't fret fellow DS fans...a full blown sequel is in the works supposedly with a film (unspecified if it's going to be live action or animated) tying the original title with the new sequel.

I was hoping that Dead Space would just be the only game by itself. EA needs to realize when they've done good, and not milk the living crap out of a franchise.

EA is in the business of making money, and lots of it, integrity and respect towards the specific game universe/storyline comes dead last.

Yeah - having Dead Space be ONE game would've probably been better for the franchise but honestly...when I finished playing that game for first time all I could think of was "what happens next? I want a sequel NOW!" I'm absolutely in love with this universe, I watched Downfall and the youtube narrated versions of the comic the next day after finishing the game and just couldn't get enough...24 hours later I started up a new game for another run through.

While I can respect the fact that EA and Redwood are trying to get their new franchise out there and available to everyone, I don't know if a rail shooter was the best move. But who knows...maybe it won't be that bad.

However, I'm getting the terrible feeling that EA has the intentions of exploiting the crap out of this franchise and making it it's own Resident Evil.
