I saw it in high school. It was pretty good, they go into a lot of the politics of the time and manage to make it pretty accurate (compared to most of the stuff out there). Theres still some dramatization, but on the whole its good. Derek Jacobi (the senator from Gladiator) played Claudius very well.

Im reading the book, pretty good. Very twisted and Machavellian.

Yeah, the book is good. Robert Graves is a scholar, and much of it is factual--the parts that sound most depraved and fictional are usually those best documented in history. The only unlikely part is whether Claudius really was so clever underneath it all. Certainly, both Tiberius and Caligula are fairly portrayed.

Claudius was indeed a smart cookie, however, the poor man suffered many physical ailments and was seen unfit to rule and was looked down upon my man. Too bad, he would become their Emperor and order the conquest of Britian... Jacobi is a very fine actor and from what I hear, plays the role very well.

Don't forget to read "Claudius the God", the sequal.
