danova, on the chest should be only buttons, without other details and You can add white (or yellow) gaitres. They are in Grenadiers texture.

    1) Anyone working on adding Grenadiers to the Swedish collection? There were actually Grenadiers during this time...

    2) If anyone needs me doing something, I'm glad to help. I can change texture, gloss maps and I got this book "Karoliner" in front of me with 200 pages of uniforms, colours, history etcetera including the internet. Tell me anything and I'll do my best.
What I can't do at the moment (which I think no one can) is to change hats, shoes, coat etcetera.

Well if you can change textures you earn a spot in the team

I can't change a tricorn into a grenadier hat for an example, nor I can change high boots into low shoes. Neither I have the knowledge to change from a Line Infantry coat into another coat.

But I guess no one can do that unless you create a new unit, yet you have to take another already existing units' model.

The Swedish army always had a tendency to use old uniforms until worn out before switching to the new standard - to save money. Here's a rough breakdown on how the uniforms changed during the 1700s.

1700-1765 all units used the Karolinean standard uniform, with very few exceptions and variations - these have been well covered in this topic so far, so I won't go there. The Life Guard started using turned-up coat buttonings around 1724 or so. The uniform changed minimally until the great reform 1765. So during the Hat's Russian war 1741-1742 and the Pommeranian war (part of the 7 years' war) 1757-1762, the Swedish troops looked almost exactly like they did during the Great Nordic War 1700-1721.

1765, the uniform was changed. The tricorn was kept, but the socks were switched for long buttoned black leather spats, giving the impression of boots reaching above the knee. The European standard of a coat only buttoned the first three buttons (from the top) and the button are turned up. The general colours and the corners folded up was maintained, while a jacket was introduced under the coat. Belts and baldric was not white instead of beige/leather. The ammo poach was black leather.

Note that some units, like before 1765, had some variations, like white pants, jacket and lining of the coat (and thus on the cuffs and the folder coat) and/or no turned up button area.

Here's an excellent page with aquarell paintings of the new uniforms for each regiment in 1765.

Would it be okay for you guys if we didnt show all regiments? Just 2 different line infantry types, and 2 elites. I mean its a large thing to deal with and this would make it all easier.

    My suggestions for skins;

    Early light infantry/militia
    Early pikemen
    Early line infantry
    Early light cavalry/dragoons
    Early heavy cavalry
    Early guards cavalry
Early guards (works for mid too)
    Early grenadiers
    Early artillerymen

    Mid light infantry/jägers
    Mid line infantry
    Mid light cavalry/hussars
    Mid heavy cavalry
    Mid guards cavalry
    Mid artillerymen

    Late light infantry/jägers
    Late line infantry
    Late light cavalry/hussars
    Late heavy cavalry
    Late guards cavalry
    Late guards
    Late artillerymen

I can suggest a standard uniform for each - for example, one could use one regiment for early pikemen, one for light infantry and one for line infantry. How about that?

It would more be like "Svenskt linjeinfanteri" (swedish line infantry) and "Finskt linjeinfanteri" (finnish line infantry) And "Drabanter" instead of Guard Cavalry.

I have gotten a message from another team (wont say which until its official)
and they have asked me about joining their mod.
Nothing will be changed, just that swedish faction is one of many, and we get help from experienced modders.

There were no difference between Finnish and Swedish regiments at the time, so I don't see why there needs to be a distinction.

Since Sweden never fought in the 1765 uniform, I guess the mid-stuff coudl be ditched.

Drabanter never reached more than 200 men at any given time. They represent the General's unit much better than Guards. My suggestion for skins/units, then.

    Early
    Uppbåd (Citizen's Militia)
    Värvade musketare (Militia)
    Pikenerare (Pikemen)
    Musketare (Line Infantry)
    Grenadjärer (Grenadiers)
    Dragoner (Dragoons)
Kavalleri (Heavy Cavalry - there were no light cavalry at this time, all was either shock cavalry or dragoons)
    Livgarde (Guards)
    Livgarde till häst (Horse Guards)
    Drabanter (General's Guard)
    Artillerister (Artillerymen)

    Late
    Uppbåd (Citizen's Militia)
    Värvat infanteri (Militia)
    Jägare (Light Infantry/Riflemen)
    Infanteri (Line Infantry)
    Hussarer (Light Cavalry)
    Kavalleri (Heavy Cavalry)
    Livgarde (Guards)
    Livgarde till häst (Horse Guard)
    Livdrabanter (General's Guard)
    Artillerister (Artillerymen)

Do you want 1700, 1765, or 1779 uniform (which regiment was best varied with time)?

In Peter Englunds book "Poltava" he says that Dalregementet had a reputation of being an elite unit and an unofficial guard unit.

Dalregementet used the traditional blue and yellow uniforms, so I'd guess we should go for that.
