A week ago I started playing ETW, well I think its going to go back to the cupboard!
I want to start a new SS Game, using PB's 6.4, although probably not BGR4.
Who shall I be and why?(except Norway and Denmark, played them on 6.1)

My best campaign came when playing as Order of the Knights Templar
Especially with (my)emergent KOJ script..they emerge 1100, always go for Jerusalem, and are allied with Templars from the start! Then the united struggle against Fatimids, mixed with crusades and jihads begins..maybe the most fun campaign I had..until I got a random unresolvable CTD around turn 150!![]()
If you are using PB's 6.4 might I suggest the 1450 campaign? It is quite an interesting change, especially if you like facing armies composed by elite and professional units. As for the faction to choose Venice, it will prove very challenging having Ottomans, Italians and what little is left of Byzantines to attack your various holdings.
Or maybe Aragon too.
Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they are in good company.
I had a blast playing as the Mongols in my last campaign. I'm more of a turtle type player so it was a real change for me. I think I'll try Lithuania next. They have some interesting units and I've heard it's a challenge, especially with 6.2.
Try Mongols or some Italian state.
Kievan Rus. In the right hands they are a Gem. Loads of militia, great inf. and cavalry archers. Dismounted boyars sons and varagian guard are a blast. Ally with poland and Byzzies and then work your way north and east. Obliterate novgorod and you have a machine ready to crunch through just about anything. *note* (be careful if your empire gets too big, you might just end up with the mongol hordes descending on your eastern doorstep, and the teutonic order and their elites looking to take your lands along the baltic all at about the same time.)![]()
Kiev was my most difficult campaign (I actually lost). I recommend playing it on very hard strategic. They really do not get the best units. Aside from the varangian guard spearmen, their infantry is weak and poorly armored compared to the west and the Kievian heavy cavalry is pitiful. My biggest problem was that I did not ally with Poland. (You really must) Once they turned on me in late game, Poland has the most incredible stacks of Rus killing knights. My best armies and leaders could not beat Polish AI armies in the field and that was a first for me. They can be a real challenge.
I am playing Aragon now and can say that they are fun. Late game they get an excellent mix of units in their city barracks. Including tercio pikemen and gendarmes (second only to lancers in kickazz). It is the early game that makes them fun as they don't hold much territory and can get into trouble early. I found myself fighting Sicily, The Moors, and France early on.
I recommend playing any faction that you find challenging. Atleast i find those the most fun.
id go france and do a late campaign,t hat way you can semi make up for E:tws shortcomings with a top of the line roster complete with the best artillery available.
or do one of the italian states like venice, always satisfying because sooner or later the pope has to go(from the italian mainland), and when he does its easy street for rest of the game once a new one is installed and has a settlement elsewhere like that little island between denmark/norway and russia/lithuania.
out there, no one can hear him preach
lithuania all the way dude.
Paganism rules.

Well thank you all for your recommendations, I have now decided who I shall be.
Order of the Knights Templar with Santiago De Pola, Emerging K.O.J sub mod. I really want to be the guys with white robes and a big red cross, so every Eastern faction can find their target. I figure with the KOJ emerging the Fatimids, will have both of us to deal with.
However I shall also start a 2nd Campaign and play them alternately, the other choice is the Byzantines, using Caesar's and Antonius's CBUR. I love the look of these units, particularly the Varangians and the Flamethrowers
