Wow...intrigiuing question...:hmmm: I haven't on purpose but I can honestly say that while playing Muslim Factions it really slows my agenda sometimes having to deal with 10 stacks of Crusaders at a throw...

I only do stuff like that when it is mid-late game and it starts to get boring, because I cant be stopped.

how would you get a crusade called on yourself?

only catholic factions can call crusades, and you can't call them if you're ex-communicated, and only ex-commed catholic factions can be targets for crusades.

try to be disliked by the cristian factions so they call a crusade on you so it will be much harder.

I've done it playing muslim factions more for roleplaying than anything else. I'll take the holy lands and then do my best to get a crusade called on me. It's one of the only ways to get the AI to actively wage war against you and it makes the game challenging.
