Default Once agian the Great Democratic India....

is in the spotlight. Oh not for being the largest Democracy, on no, but for having 44% of marriages in India between girls not even 18.

Seriously, I'm at a loss. For all its supposed evil, China doesn't have this going on. Between the two, the world should support China more than India until it gets its act up.

Sure, India's economy was booming, but only for the 20% of the population where education is affordable and that there isn't any health concerns. The rest of India's population is the same as before.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, unlike China, India has put a screen up saying its economy is booming and such, while the truth of the matter is that its no better than before. Education is not inforced and there still isn't electricity in a majority of the villages. There was even news that some villagers didn't even had a road going outside of the village! The bachalors decided to build one because they were getting tired of not being able ot marry!

While people should be proud of their country going places, they should also realize when its not ready. I'm rooting for China to jump ahead of India in no short time.

Good Lord, I bet this would never happen somewhere as enlightened as Pakistan.

Sultan, just before you side with China, bear in mind the legal age of consent for sex is 14 (or 15, one of the two). Marriages happen a lot younger in China, it's just far less widely reported. Also, it's not exactly the governments fault is it? They've set the legal age to 18 (2 years higher than in the UK in fact). You try and manage over a billion people, spraking something like ten different languages, with five major religions, many of whom are in abject poverty or follow ancient traditions because they don't know any better. I'm not saying it's right, just saying it's difficult to blame anyone.

mid-20s in the cities, probably 18-19 in the country side.

I'm pretty sure China has achieved that already. It's GDP per capita is over twice that of India (5400 to 2600).

In Pakistan, arranged marriages under Sharia are just as abundant. Get over it.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."
